Govt should seriously consider demands of farmers, says BSP chief Mayawati

BSP chief Mayawati on Wednesday said the Centre should initiate talks with protesting farmers instead of taking action against them. Her remarks come as protesting farmers from Punjab make an attempt to march to Delhi to press for various demands. Mayawati said the government should take seriously the demands of the hardworking farmers who have made India self-reliant in food production. The Centre should resolve their issue in a timely manner so that the farmers are not forced to protest again and again in support of their demands, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister said in a post on X. "Instead of taking strict action against the agitating farmers under the current campaign of 'Dilli Chalo', it would be better if the Centre tries to end their movement by having proper talks with them," she added. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha have announced that more than 200 farm unions would march to Delhi to press the Centre to accept several dema

SP chief should introspect before taking a jibe at BSP, says Mayawati

BSP chief Mayawati on Sunday asked her SP counterpart Akhilesh Yadav to introspect before making any unrestrained jibe at her party. Mayawati's comment comes a day after the Samajwadi Party (SP) chief took a jibe at the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) while speaking to reporters during an event in Ballia district. Asked whether the BSP would join the INDIA alliance, Yadav questioned in return, "Who will give an assurance after that?" In a post on X in Hindi, Mayawati said, "The SP chief who is helpless owing to his and his government's anti-Dalit policies, habits and style of working, should introspect before making any unrestrained comment on the BSP and check how tainted his reputation is in this strengthening the BJP and reconciling with them." "Also, who can forget the blessings given by the then SP chief to the BJP before and after winning the parliamentary elections. And then how can the public forget the meetings of the SP leadership with the BJP leadership after their government

Mayawati hits at Centre, says govt should give employment guarantee

BSP chief Mayawati on Monday flayed the BJP government at the Centre over the issue of unemployment and asked it to display true patriotism by giving an employment guarantee to the people. The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister charged that the development of crores of poor has been affected due to the "casteist, arrogant and non-inclusive governments headed earlier by the Congress and now the BJP" and asked the people to elect a party in Lok Sabha polls that is dedicated to public interest and welfare of the backward castes. In a series of posts on X, Mayawati said, "From New Year, the government should discharge true patriotism and 'Rajdharma' by ensuring only 'employment guarantee', because the rest of the government guarantees have proved to be more of deceitful politics of narrow nationalism." "If there is a modest per capita income in the country i.e. if there is no money in people's pockets to spend, then what is the use of blowing the trumpet of development. Also, how is a

810 mn dependent on free foodgrains from govt due to inflation: Mayawati

BSP chief Mayawati Wednesday said neither the freedom fighters nor the architect of the Indian Constitution Bhimrao Ambedkar would have thought that more than 81 crore poor people of the country would be dependent on free foodgrains from government as she slammed the Centre for rising inflation.
