Automaker Tesla to remain a public company, CEO Musk says

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has said that the company would continue to be publicly traded, weeks after suggesting that he would take the electric carmaker private. Musk met with Tesla's board of directors on Thursday "and let them know that I believe the better path is for Tesla to remain public. The Board indicated that they agree," he wrote on the company blog. Musk surprised markets on August 7 by announcing on Twitter he wanted to take Tesla private at USD 420 a share. But shares fell more than 20 per cent since the announcement. After the announcement the controversial entrepreneur came under extensive scrutiny over his Twitter statements related to the proposal, especially a claim that Tesla had "secured" funding for the move. TN govt lays foundation stone for SIR in Krishnagiri dist

The Tamil Nadu government today laid the foundation stone for developing a Special Investment Region (SIR) in Krishnagiri district, as part of its efforts to boost economic growth in northern parts of the state. Chief Minister K Palaniswami laid the foundation stone through video conferencing from here and the SIR would be developed jointly by GMR Infrastructures Ltd and Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Ltd (TIDCO), an official release here said. The GMR Krishnagiri SIR will come up on 2,100 acres in Denkanikottai and Shoolagiri taluks in that district, it said. The SIR was part of the government's steps to boost economic growth of the northern districts and it will have "world-class" roads, drainage systems, water and sewage treatment plants, power and internet supply to attract investments, it added. "The plan estimate of the SIR is about Rs 2,420 crore. Its completion in 7-8 years will pave the way for attracting investments to the tune of Rs 5,000 crore

Tesla will remain public: Elon Musk

After due consideration, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has finally arrived at his decision of keeping the company public. Earlier this month, the founder had posted a tweet about considering to take Tesla private at $420.However, in his blog aptly titles 'Staying Public', Musk revealed that after consulting his current investors and shareholders in the company, it has been decided to keep Tesla public.Musk wrote that while a majority of shareholders said they would remain with Tesla even if it went private, the sentiment in a nutshell was 'please don't do this'. Going private would have been more time-consuming and distracting than anticipated.Tesla will continue to focus on building products such as the Model 3 which Musk intends to ramp up and make profitable. And in order to achieve this, the company needs to be financially sustainable which is also the reason why the decision to keep Tesla public has been made.

Edible oils extend weakness on low demand, adequate stocks

Select edible oil prices drifted further down at the wholesale oil and oilseeds market this week owing to slackened demand from vanaspati millers against ample stocks position on increased supplies. However, pamolein oil ended higher on scattered retailers demand. On the other hand, castor oil in the non-edible section went up on the back of pick up in demand from consuming industries. Traders said besides easing demand from vanaspati mills and adequate stocks position on increased arrivals from producing regions mainly kept select edible oil prices down. Market remained closed on Wednesday on account of "Bakri Id". In the national capital, groundnut mill delivery (Gujarat) oil dropped by Rs 400 to Rs 9,200 per quintal. Groundnut solvent refined followed suit and eased by Rs 50 to Rs 1,750-1,850 per tin. Mustard expeller (Dadri) oil also shed Rs 50 to Rs 8,250 per quintal. Indian-origin executive settles charges with SEC, another charged for making false claims

An Indian-origin executive has settled charges with the US Securities and Exchange Commission for overstating the company's subscriber base, while another Indian-origin person was charged for making similar misrepresentations. Hari Ravichandran, 42 former chief executive of web hosting company Endurance International Group Holdings and former chief financial officer Waruna Ellawala knowingly provided inflated subscriber figures for the Massachusetts-based online marketing company, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) said. Ravichandran, a resident of Boston, had founded Endurance in 1997 and served as the company's Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the Board of Directors. The SEC also filed a complaint in US District Court in Massachusetts alleging that former Constant Contact CFO Harpreet Grewal, 51, hid its slowing customer growth from investors and inflated its publicly reported subscriber numbers.
