Honda Cars India on Thursday said its domestic sales declined 23 per cent year-on-year to 3,360 units in April. The automaker dispatched 4,351 units to dealers in April last year. Export declined to 1,511 units last month as compared with 6,516 units in April last year. "In view of the prevailing market conditions and subdued consumer sentiment, we have strategically moderated the dispatches in the month of April to maintain optimal inventory level across our network, ensuring operational efficiency and preparing for demand fluctuations without burdening the dealers," Honda Cars India VP (Marketing & Sales) Kunal Behl said in a statement. The company is introducing certain grades of Elevate at attractive new price points along with other benefits in the month of May ensuring greater value for customers, he added.

Maruti Suzuki India on Tuesday reported a 3 per cent year-on-year increase in total sales at 1,92,984 units in March. The auto major sold a total of 1,87,196 units in the same month last year. Total domestic passenger vehicle dispatches to dealers were at 1,50,743 units compared to 1,52,718 units in the year-ago month, a dip of 1 per cent, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in a statement. Sales of mini segment cars, comprising Alto and S-Presso, declined marginally to 11,655 units against 11,829 units in March 2024. Sales of compact cars, including Baleno, Dzire, Ignis, and Swift also declined to 66,906 units from 69,844 units in the year-ago month. Utility vehicles, consisting of Grand Vitara, Brezza, Ertiga and XL6, clocked sales of 61,097 units last month over 58,436 units earlier. German luxury carmaker BMW is looking at double- digit sales growth this year having already reported record deliveries in 2024, its India Group President and CEO Vikram Pawah said on Saturday. The company is also expecting its electric vehicle sales portfolio to go up this year. In 2024, BMW Group India posted its best-ever annual car sales at 15,721 units, an 11 per cent growth over the previous year. The BMW brand registered 15,012 units while the MINI brand clocked 709 units in 2024. The group's motorcycle brand, BMW Motorrad sold 8,301 units last year.
