India has recorded 92 fresh coronavirus infections, while the active cases have decreased to 2,350, according to Union health ministry data updated on Monday. The death toll has remained at 5,31,891, the data updated at 8 am stated. On February 14, the country had reported 74 cases in a day. The total tally of Covid cases is 4.49 crore (4,49,92,880) and the active cases now comprise 0.01 per cent of the total infections, it stated. The national Covid recovery rate has been recorded at 98.81 per cent, according to the health ministry's website. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease has increased to 4,44,58,639 while the case fatality rate has been recorded at 1.18 per cent, it stated. A new research has found that Covid pandemic restrictions led to stronger climate warming. The study from Stockholm University, Sweden, said that this was because the restrictions reduced the aerosol content in the air mass over South Asia, mainly Pakistan, India and Bangladesh, but had no effect on the concentrations of the longer-lived greenhouse gases. A lower aerosol content meant less cooling, because of less reflection of incoming solar radiation back into space, and thus less 'masking' of the warming effect of the significantly longer-lived climate gases. Measurements taken at the same time over the northern Indian Ocean revealed a 7 per cent increase in solar radiation reaching the Earth's surface, thus increasing temperatures. Mumbai sees seven fresh Covid-19 cases, no death, active tally at 108

Mumbai on Friday reported seven COVID-19 cases, which took the tally to 11,63,735, while the death toll stood unchanged at 19,772, a civic official said. The addition to the tally was a drop from the 11 cases detected a day earlier, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official added. The recovery count increased by 29 in the last 24 hours to touch 11,43,855, leaving the metropolis with an active caseload of 108, he said. As per a BMC report, the recover rate is 98.3 per cent and the overall growth rate of cases between May 19 and 25 is 0.0015 per cent. The caseload doubling time is 44,693 days and the overall number of coronavirus tests conducted is 1,88,72,177, including 786 in the last 24 hours.

Long COVID symptoms acquire firmer definition, threshold for diagnosis

After examining nearly 10,000 patients, most of whom had COVID-19, researchers have outlined 12 symptoms that most set apart those with and without long COVID, the post-infection set of conditions that can affect nearly every tissue and organ in the body. The 12 symptoms found are: post-exertional malaise, fatigue, brain fog, dizziness, gastrointestinal symptoms, heart palpitations, issues with sexual desire or capacity, loss of smell or taste, thirst, chronic cough, chest pain, and abnormal movements. The research team also found that long COVID was more common and severe in study participants infected before the 2021 Omicron variant. The study, coordinated through Researching COVID to Enhance Recovery (RECOVER) initiative of National Institutes of Health (NIH), US, examined data from 9,764 adults, including 8,646 who had COVID-19 and 1,118 who did not have COVID-19.
