Mumbai logs 155 new Covid-19 cases, no death; active tally at 784

Mumbai on Tuesday recorded 155 new cases of coronavirus that raised the tally of infections to 11,50,701, an official from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. The toll remained unchanged at 19,733, while the count of recoveries rose to 11,30,184 after 85 patients recovered from the infection, he said. There has been a slight increase in the daily cases, as the city had on Monday recorded 66 infections. As per a bulletin issued by the civic body, 4,387 swab samples were tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of tests carried out in the city to 1,83,29,997. With a recovery rate of 98.2 per cent, Mumbai is left with 784 active cases, of which only 12 patients are symptomatic. The overall growth rate of cases is 0.008 per cent, while the doubling rate is at 9,045 days.

Gujarat: Ten killed, seven injured as container truck hits three-wheeler

Ten persons, including two children and as many women, were killed and seven others injured on Tuesday after a container truck hit a three-wheeler carrying passengers on the national highway near Vadodara city in Gujarat, police said. The condition of two of the injured persons is critical. Officials said the toll rose as more bodies were pulled out of the mangled three-wheeler and taken to the state-run hospital in Vadodara city. The incident occurred in the afternoon when the truck driver lost control of the vehicle after hitting a car. The truck jumped a road divider and crashed into a 'chhakra' (three-wheeler) coming from the opposite direction. "The container truck lost balance after hitting a car and jumped on the wrong side of the road breaking the divider before crashing into a 'chhakra'. 125 died as stadium exit gates were too small for escape: Indonesia police

Indonesian police said on Tuesday that the gates at the soccer stadium where police fired tear gas and set off a deadly crush were too small and could only accommodate two at a time when hundreds were trying to escape. Photos from the Malang stadium where 125 people died and hundreds were injured on Saturday night in one of the sporting events worst disasters showed four connecting doors forming one gate. Police said the investigation was focused on six of the 14 gates where most of the spectators died in the crush. Mumbai logs 66 new Covid-19 cases, zero fatality; active tally at 714

Mumbai on Monday recorded 66 new cases of coronavirus that raised the tally of infections to 11,50,546, an official from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. The toll remained unchanged at 19,733, while the count of recoveries reached 11,39,099 after 51 patients recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, he said. There has been a drop in daily infections, as the city had recorded 102 cases and a fatality on Sunday. Of the 66 cases reported during the day, only two patients were symptomatic, the civic body said. With a recovery rate of 98.2 per cent and doubling rate of 8,683 days, the city currently has 714 active cases. At least 3,362 swab samples were tested in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of tests conducted in the city to 1,83,25,610, the BMC said.

Delhi records 92 fresh Covid-19 infections, positivity rate at 1.2%

Delhi on Saturday recorded 92 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 1.20 per cent, according to data issued by the city health department here. No Covid-related fatality was reported, the department said in its latest bulletin. Mumbai sees 130 Covid-19 cases, 1 death, 121 recoveries in single day

Mumbai on Saturday reported 130 COVID-19 cases and one death, which took the tally in the metropolis to 11,50,378 and the toll to 19,732, a civic official said. The addition to the tally was above the 100-mark for the fourth day in a row and slightly more than the 115 cases recorded on Friday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official added. Of the new cases, only 16 are symptomatic, the official said. The recovery count increased by 121 to touch 11,29,941, leaving the city with an active caseload of 705, he said. As per BMC data, a total of 1,83,15,553 coronavirus tests have been conducted in the city so far, including 6,127 in the last 24 hours, down from the 7,038 samples examined in the preceding 24-hour period. The recovery rate is 98.2 per cent and the overall growth rate of cases between September 24 and 30 is 0.009 per cent. The caseload doubling time stands at 8,209 days, as per civic data.

19 killed, including 3 elite guard members, in Iran attack by separatists

An attack by armed separatists on a police station in a southeastern city killed 19 people, including three members of Iran's elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard, Iran's state-run IRNA news agency reported on Saturday. The assailants in Friday's attack hid among worshippers near a mosque in the city of Zahedan and attacked the nearby police station, according to the report. Powerful earthquake shakes Indonesia's Sumatra leaving 1 dead, 11 injured

A strong and shallow earthquake shook Indonesia's Sumatra island on Saturday, killing a resident, injuring 11 and damaging more than a a dozen houses and buildings, police said. The magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck about 40 km (24.8 miles) northeast of Sibolga, a coastal city in North Sumatra province, according to the US Geological Survey. It was 13 km (8 miles) deep. Tamil Nadu registers 522 new Covid-19 infections, no death in last 24 hours

Tamil Nadu on Friday reported 522 new COVID-19 infections pushing the caseload to 35,83,104, the health department said. The death toll remained unchanged at 38,046 as there were no fresh fatalities. Chennai witnessed a marginal rise with 104 cases as compared to 98 on Thursday, Chengalpet added 50, Coimbatore 38 while the remaining was spread across other districts. As many as 533 people recuperated from the virus in the last 24 hours, aggregating to 35,39,562 that left 5,496 active infections, a medical bulletin said. Eighteen districts reported new cases below 10 while Ariyalur and Tiruvarur reported zero new cases, each.
