The Delhi High Court has asked hospitals in the national capital to refrain from demanding ID proofs of rape survivors seeking termination of their pregnancy on orders of courts. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma also underlined the pressing need for "clear, practical and sensitive" medical protocols for such survivors, particularly minors. Lack of clarity on procedures, insistence on identity documents, and the delay in carrying out necessary medical examinations such as ultrasound have all contributed to the further distress of the victim in this case, the court said. "Hospitals and medical institutions must be sensitised to the fact that cases involving victims of sexual assault, especially minor girls, require a more responsive and sensitive approach," the court said on May 29. Medical protocols, it said, must align not only with statutory obligations, but also with compassion, practicality, and an understanding of the unique challenges that survivors of sexual violence face. The Delhi High Court on Wednesday refused to entertain a public interest litigation seeking direction to the Centre for the formation of a Gujjar regiment in the Indian Army. A bench of Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela termed the PIL to be "absolutely divisive" and asked the counsel for the petitioner to do some research before taking up such petitions. Sensing the court's mood which warned of imposing costs on the litigant, the petitioner's counsel withdrew the plea. "After arguing at some length, the counsel for the petitioner states that she has instructions from the petitioner who is present in the court to withdraw the petition. The same is dismissed as withdrawn, the bench said. The court was hearing a PIL by one Rohan Basoya, claiming that the Gujjar community has a well-documented history of bravery, having participated in various wars, including the 1857 revolt, Indo-Pak wars of 1947, 1965, 1971, Kargil war (1999) and counter insurgency operations

The Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor is an 82.15 km semi-high-speed rail corridor which will connect the national capital, Ghaziabad and Meerut. The green body made the observation while disposing of a plea that expressed apprehension about the possible environmental harm due to the uprooting of 40 big trees, of which 25 were fully grown, inside the premises of the Siddhartha Extension Pocket C here by the NCRTC as the trees were in the way of the RRTS track. The plea was filed by the residents welfare association of the area. The Delhi High Court on Monday allowed the BJP-led government in the capital to withdraw a plea against Lieutenant Governor allowing Delhi Police to choose special public prosecutors for February 2020 riots and 2021 Republic Day violence cases. A bench of Chief Justice D K Upadhyaya and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela said, The application is allowed and the petition is dismissed as withdrawn." The court passed the order after the Lieutenant Governor's counsel did not object to the plea. The erstwhile AAP government had challenged the LG's decision on the ground that it wouldn't be in the interest of a fair trial to have Delhi Police chosen lawyers as SPPs in cases of farmers' protests-related violence on January 26, 2021 and Delhi riots. The appointment of special public prosecutors (SPP) was a routine matter and not an exceptional one requiring a reference to President and LG had "no sound reason" for referring the matter to President when the government had agreed to appoint independe
The Supreme Court on Thursday expressed concern over drafting of arbitration clauses in commercial agreements and said the arbitration process was being misused to complicate and prolong matters. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh raised "serious concerns" over the manner in which ambiguity was embedded into such agreements and instructed courts to show an "unwavering tendency" towards rejecting shoddily drafted clauses at the very threshold. "The drafting of arbitration clauses in commercial agreements in India leaves much to be desired. Despite arbitration being introduced as a means of ensuring speedy and effective dispute resolution, it is evident and ironic that, in certain cases, the process has been misused to further complicate and prolong the resolution of disputes," it said. "Whether this stems from administrative oversight or deficient legal advice is a matter best left for separate consideration," the bench added. The top court said "willful and wanton
