Housing prices in Delhi-NCR appreciated the most among seven major cities with rates rising by an average 30 per cent during the last year on rise in input cost, according to Anarock. Real estate consultant Anarock noted that Delhi-NCR recorded the "highest yearly jump of 30 per cent in average residential price --"from Rs 5,800 per sq ft in 2023 to nearly Rs 7,550 per sq ft in 2024." The sharp increase in housing prices in Delhi-NCR was despite higher supply and a marginal fall in sales during the 2024 calendar year. There has been a significant increase in prices of land and labour as well as construction costs. As per the Anarock data, the housing sales dropped 6 per cent to 61,900 units in the last year from 65,625 units in the preceding year. CAQM lifts Grap 3 restrictions in Delhi-NCR as pollution levels dip

The Centre's panel on Delhi-NCR's air quality on Friday revoked curbs under stage 3 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) amid a dip in pollution due to favourable meteorological conditions, according to an official order. Calm winds, low temperatures and foggy conditions had allowed accumulation of pollutants in the region earlier this week, promoting the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to implement strictest curbs under stage 3 and 4 of GRAP. The panel decided to revoke stage 4 curbs on Thursday amid a dip in pollution levels following a spell of rain in the region. On Friday, air pollution level declined further amid strong winds, leading to revocation of stage 3 curbs. GRAP Stage 3 entails a ban on non-essential construction work. Classes up to grade 5 are required to shift to hybrid mode under Stage 3. Parents and students have the option to choose online education wherever available. Luxury homes, each costing Rs 4 crore and above, were in much demand last year with sales rising 53 per cent to 19,700 units across seven major cities, according to CBRE. In the 2023 calendar year, the sales of housing units, each priced Rs 4 crore and above, stood at 12,895 units. Sales of luxury homes in this price category were maximum in Delhi-NCR at 10,500 units during 2024 as compared to 5,525 units in the preceding year. Delhi WCD launches district-wise drive to trace Ladli Yojana beneficiaries

The Delhi Women and Child Development Department has initiated a district-wise drive to identify Ladli Yojana beneficiaries who have not claimed their entitled payments. Launched on January 1, 2008, to empower girl children born in Delhi, the Ladli Yojana provides financial assistance in the form of term deposits: Rs 11,000 for hospital births, Rs 10,000 for home births, and Rs 5,000 each at key milestones -- enrolment in classes one, two, six, nine, and 10. A WCD official said around 1.86 lakh beneficiaries have not claimed the benefits under the scheme, while 1.66 lakh have either failed to renew their applications or dropped out of school. The official said many children change districts for schooling but do not renew their registration under the scheme, often due to a lack of awareness. Indian real estate sector saw more land deals in 2024 at over 2,200 acres as developers were looking to expand the business, according to CBRE. Real estate consultant CBRE data showed that land deals of more than 2,200 acres last year as against about 1,900 acres in the preceding year. Out of the total land transactions in 2024, around 2,000 acres were located in the eight major cities -- Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. Delhi authorities issue guidelines to prevent HMPV virus outbreak

Delhi health authorities on Sunday issued an advisory to ensure preparedness for potential health challenges related to the Human MetaPneumoVirus (HMPV) and other respiratory viruses. According to a statement, Dr Vandana Bagga, Director General of Health Services, convened a meeting with chief district medical officers and the state programme officer of IDSP on Sunday to discuss preparedness to address respiratory illnesses in Delhi. As part of the recommendations, hospitals have been instructed to promptly report Influenza-like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) cases through the IHIP Portal. Strict isolation protocols and the use of universal precautions for suspected cases have been made mandatory. Hospitals are required to maintain proper documentation of SARI cases and lab-confirmed influenza cases to ensure accurate monitoring. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has revoked the Stage-III actions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR following a significant improvement in the air quality index (AQI).Stage-I and Stage-II measures, however, will remain in effect, officials said on Sunday.The decision comes after the Sub-Committee on GRAP reviewed the air quality data and the IMD/IITM forecasts, noting a downward trend in AQI levels.Owing to the favourable meteorological conditions and better wind speed, the AQI of Delhi has been continuously improving and has been recorded as 339 at 4:00 PM and 335 at 5:00 PM and the trend/ forecast indicates the AQI levels to further go down_ As per the Air Quality & Weather, forecast provided by IMD/ IITM, there is a further likelihood of AQI of Delhi to remain in 'Poor' category in the coming days owing to favourable meteorological conditions, a release said.The CAQM had on Friday invoked Stage-III curbs under the GRAP across the ...

New office space supply falls 6% across top 8 cities in 2024: Report

India's eight major office markets saw a 6 per cent annual decline in fresh supply of workspaces during 2024, even as the demand hit an all-time high, according to Cushman & Wakefield. Real estate consultant Cushman & Wakefield (C&W) data showed that new supply of office space stood at 451.5 lakh square feet in 2024 as against 477.9 lakh sq ft in the preceding year. New supply declined in Delhi-NCR, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad, while it jumped in Mumbai and rose marginally in Bengaluru. Among cities, the new office space supply in Mumbai jumped more than 4 times to 83.2 lakh sq ft in 2024 from 20.5 lakh sq ft in the preceding year. In Bengaluru, the new supply grew to 133.4 lakh sq ft from 133.1 lakh sq ft. However, Delhi-NCR witnessed a 5 per cent fall in new supply to 46.8 lakh sq ft from 49.2 lakh sq ft.
