Delhi police to monitor Haryana-based criminals' activities ahead of polls

The Delhi Police will keep track of the activities of Haryana-based criminals, who are either lodged in jail or operating their gangs from the national capital and will share the data with the poll-bound state, officials on Thursday said. Polling for the 90 Assembly seats in Haryana will be held on October 5 and the results will be declared on October 8. "Many Haryana-based criminals are lodged in Delhi jail. The Delhi police will keep strict vigil on them and their activities," a senior police officer said. The officer further said that the police will also keep a record of their communications which will be shared with the Haryana police for complete hassle-free polls in the state. Delhi Police recruitment exam scam: Accused held from Haryana after two yrs

Kota city police has arrested one of the accused, who was on the run for two years, in the alleged Delhi Police recruitment exam scam, a police official said. The accused was also wanted by the Kota police in another case related to forged documents. Akhilesh Kumar Singh (32), a resident of the Jamui district in Bihar and currently living in Delhi's Rohini, was arrested from Haryana's Jind district on Saturday in connection with a case of forged documents, Kota City SP Amrita Duhan said. Akhilesh is one of the accused in the Delhi Police recruitment exam scam, she added. Akhilesh took on rent the premises of Kota's Messrs Om Kothari Foundation for conducting an online examination in 2020. The accused, along with a local person identified as Himanshu Rathore, allegedly forged the signature of an official of the institute to prepare the required documents of proprietorship, and got it allotted as an online examination centre for the Delhi Police recruitment exam, police said. Illegal arms suppliers held in Delhi; eight country-made pistols recovered

Delhi Police has arrested two members of an interstate arms supply gang who used social media platforms for their dealings, officials said on Sunday. According to police, the accused used to procure the arms from Khargone in Madhya Pradesh which they supplied in Delhi/NCR. The accused have been identified as Arvind Kumar (45) and Vinod Kumar (48) from Uttar Pradesh and eight countrymade 0.32 bore pistols recovered from them, police said. Police received a tip-off on August 19 that two arm traffickers would be reaching Agra canal road in Jaitpur to deliver a consignment of illegal fire arms, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (special cell) Amit Kaushik said. Based on the tip-off, a police team was formed which laid a trap near Canal road and the duo was apprehended. Eight pistols were recovered from them, Kaushik said. Delhi Police busts Al Qaeda terror module, detains 14 people from 3 states

The Delhi Police on Thursday claimed to have busted an Al Qaeda terror module after detaining 14 people from Jharkhand, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. After receiving intelligence inputs, an operation was conducted along with the police forces of the states, officials said. "The module, as per current state of operations, was being led by one Dr. Ishtiyaq of Ranchi (Jharkhand), and it was aspiring to declare 'khilafat' and execute serious terrorist activities within the country," a Delhi Police statement said. The members of the terror module were trained, including in handling weapons, at various locations, it said. The statement said six people were detained from Bhiwadi in Rajasthan while they were undergoing training to handle weapons, and eight from Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh for questioning, it said. They are being interrogated and additional detentions are anticipated. Raids are being conducted to recover arms, ammunition and documents, the officials said.

Delhi Police has heightened security measures for Independence Day celebrations, deploying over 10,000 personnel across the city, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unfurl the national flag at the Red Fort for the 11th consecutive year on Thursday. MCD seals 35 coaching centre basements following deaths of 3 UPSC aspirants

The MCD sealed seven more basements of coaching centres in Central Delhi's Old Rajendra Nagar and one each in North West Delhi's Rajdhani Enclave and East Delhi's Preet Vihar on Tuesday, following the death of three UPSC aspirants in the basement of Rau's IAS Study Circle. With this, the civic body has now cracked down on 29 basements of coaching institutes since Sunday for allegedly operating in violation of the MCD building by-laws. According to an official statement, the coaching centres that faced action in Rajinder Nagar on Tuesday include the IAS Gurukul Tathastu, Officers IAS Academy, Forum IAS, Psyche World IAS, Sanchetna IAS, Prisha IAS, Path Academy and Drishti IAS. An interim report of the magisterial inquiry in the death of three students in the flooded library of Rau's IAS Study Circle here said the water level of the centre's basement and the road was same that posed problem in pumping out water to rescue the trapped students. Another report by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) found that the flooding of the basement made the biometric gate there "non functional" that "caused casualty and delayed the evacuation of the students".
