The Delhi Police has questioned two more people in connection with the Parliament security breach case, sources said on Thursday. While one of them is said to be a close friend of accused Manoranjan D and belongs to Karnataka, the other hails from Uttar Pradesh, police sources said. A team of the Special Cell questioned the duo on Wednesday, they added. They are suspected to be a part of the now-deleted Facebook page 'Bhagat Singh Fan Club', which was created by the accused before the security breach incident, said sources. Special Public Prosecutor Amit Prasad, who represented Delhi Police in the 2020 riots cases, has resigned. Prasad sent his resignation letter to Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena on December 15. "I was appointed as SPP for Delhi riots cases which I was continuing till date for three-and-a-half years. In this period, I have handled the prosecution cases to the best of my ability," Prasad said in his letter. "However, now I would not be able to continue and hence tendering my resignation with immediate effect. It is requested that my resignation may please be accepted forthwith," he said. Prasad, who is also the SPP in the Shraddha Walkar murder case, told PTI that he will continue to represent the prosecution in the matter.

Four days after the Parliament's security was breached, the Delhi Police has recovered fragments of some broken and burnt mobile phones from Rajasthan's Nagaur, an official said on Sunday. Police have added IPC sections related to destruction of evidence to the FIR against the accused. An officer privy to the investigations said a few pieces of mobile phones have been recovered on Saturday on the instance of Lalit Jha, who was among six arrested by the police in connection to the case. The Delhi High Court has sought the stand of the city police on a petition seeking enquiry and action against its officers for alleged illegal arrest, physical assault and torture of a man apprehended in a case of attempted murder last month. Justice Vikas Mahajan issued notice on the petition by the wife of the alleged victim claiming "police transgressions" and directed that relevant CCTV footage, including those from the police station concerned, be preserved and placed on record.
