An inter-ministerial central team (IMCT) has visited Andhra Pradesh and completed the assessment of the extent of damage in the drought-hit districts, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh said Tuesday. The state has declared drought in nine districts covering 347 mandals during kharif 2018 and has submitted a memorandum seeking an assistance of Rs 1,401.54 crore from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), he said. "IMCT has visited the state during December 5-9," Singh said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha. As per the existing procedure, the recommendations of IMCT are placed before the sub-committee of National Executive Committee and then considered by the High Level Committee headed by the home minister, he added. About 13.61 lakh hectare has been affected by drought in the state, which has submitted total three memorandums to the Centre, seeking relief funds. Four persons died while one was injured Tuesday after a wall of a godown collapsed on them in a village here, police said. The deceased were identified as Dharmendra Bind (21), Umesh (19), Ramesh (22) and Acche (2O). Some people were sitting near the wall when it collapsed on them at Maherallipur village of the district, they said. They were rushed to a hospital where doctors declared four of them dead while another person was injured and undergoing treatment.

After Cyclone Phethai made a landfall in Andhra Pradesh on Monday, significant damage to the standing crops was reported from Dariyatippa village of the state.Nalla Chandra, a farmer residing in the village, told ANI: "I laid 5 acres of paddy and invested almost Rs 1 lakh. Three houses have been reduced to ashes in a fire that broke out at Seribasa village in Chirgaon tehsil of Himachal Pradesh's Shimla district, police said Tuesday. The fire broke out Monday night, burning to the ground three houses and a cattle shed, they said, adding that another house sustained partial damage in the blaze. No humans or animals were hurt. However, property worth around Rs 1.5 crore was lost in the fire, a police official said. Initial probe suggested that an electrical short circuit had caused the fire, he said. South Korean fire department officials said Tuesday that three teenage boys were presumed dead and seven other boys were being treated for injuries after they were found unconscious at a motel in the seaside town of Gangneung. A four-feet wide hole appeared at the Rampura flyover on National Highway 8 in Gurgaon on Monday. The flyover between Kherki Daula toll plaza and IMT Manesar, was opened last year by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to ease traffic congestion on the strect leading to Maneser. "We have received information about a hole surfacing on the Rampura flyover around 5 am. Subsequently, road safety staffs rushed at the spot and blocked the road," said Anil Kumar, road safety officer of NHAI. "The matter has been informed to higher authorities and repairing of the affected area will start soon," he added. As the hole appeared in the middle of the flyover, it affected traffic movement between Jaipur and Delhi. "We have partially diverted traffic movement and are also using service lanes to provide some respite to the commuters," Kumar said.
