Fire breaks out in three shops in Shahdara
One person was killed and six others were injured after a fire broke out in three shops in Shahdara's Maujpur area this morning, said senior Delhi Fire Services officer. A call was received at 5.45 am about the fire in three shops and three fire tenders were rushed to the spot, he added. The fire was doused by 6.50 am. Further details are awaited.
Footbridge collapses in Miami, killing four

At least two persons were killed and seven others injured in an explosion in a house in Kila Saifullah district of Pakistan's restive Balochistan province, police said today. Many others are trapped under the debris and efforts are on to rescue them, they said. The incident took place last night in which the roof and walls of the house collapsed. "We don't know what caused the blast but it was powerful and damaged the house," Deputy Commissioner Killa Saifullah Shafqat Anwar Shahwani said. The injured, including women and children, belonged to the same family and were shifted to hospital for treatment. Baluchistan province has been hit hard by terror attacks in the last few years with militants and separatists frequently targeting security personnel and installations.

Several people were killed after a newly-installed pedestrian bridge collapsed at the Florida International University in Miami.The CNN quoted a spokesman with the Florida Highway Patrol as saying that multiple people died as a result of a pedestrian bridge collapse at the university.Aerial footage of the scene showed that several cars were crushed underneath the bridge. A low floor bus overturned in Meerut killing two people on the spot and injuring 12 others, on Thursday.The accident took place on the Anshar-Meerut road near Sardhana Road after the bus went out of control and fell into a pit while trying to save a bike rider.The injured people have been admitted to local hospitals.

The Miami Herald reported that an unknown number of people were trapped underneath the collapsed walkway, which connected Florida International University to a student housing area. The Florida Highway Patrol said several people were killed, according to US networks. Television imagery from the scene showed a crane being moved into position where the bridge lay in sections across Southwest Eighth Street. Emergency vehicles and police cars also swarmed the area.

Forest fires in HP caused loss of Rs 6 cr during past three years
Forest fires caused financial losses of around Rs 6 crore in Himachal Pradesh during the last three years, Forest Minister Gobind Singh Thakur today said. Replying to a question, he said that 3,200 forest fires broke out during the last three years, affecting over 3,2000 hectares of forest area in the state. The minister said that an intensive mass awareness campaign is being launched during the fire prone season to create awareness among people, school children, Panchayats, NGOs etc. about the damage caused by forest fires. He said the satellite based Fire Alert Messaging System, developed by Forest Survey of India (FSI) is being adopted in the state. "More than 1,900 forest personnel are registered to receive the SMS alerts. The system enables early information of forest-fire incidents and quick response," he said. US-Bangla Airlines suspends flights to Nepal indefinitely

Major fire near Howrah Bridge, no casualty
A major fire today damaged a Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT) warehouse at Armenian Ghat Street, near the iconic Howrah Bridge, and gutted 15 shanties, officials said. However, there was no report of any casualty, they added. The fire broke out around noon and 21 fire engines were pressed into service. Ten water-jets were used by the fire-fighters and the flames were doused at 1.20 pm. The fire spread as a large quantity of articles made of plastic and painting materials were stored in the warehouse, the officials added. Thick black smoke billowed over the area for about an hour, triggering panic at the neighbouring Mullik Ghat flower market. China gives Rs 48 million assistance to Nepal
China today agreed to provide Rs 48 billion assistance to Nepal for development, including post-disaster recovery plan for the strategic Tatopani border point that was damaged in a devastating earthquake in 2015. China and Nepal have been stepping up efforts to improve road connectivity while speeding up plans to build a railway line connecting to Nepal's border after a Transit Trade Treaty was signed in 2016 with Beijing. The Government of China has agreed to extend the assistance to Nepal for the projects on post-disaster recovery for Tatopani border point, the hospital reconstruction in Sindhupalchowk and reconstruction of Jiri Secondary School, the Nepal's Ministry of Finance said in a statement.
