Nepal plane crash caused by confusion about runway?
Nepalese investigators have retrieved the black box from the wreckage a Bangladeshi plane that crashed here, killing 49 people, authorities said today as the conversation between the air traffic controllers and the pilot before the tragedy indicated a possible confusion over the runway. The Dhaka to Kathmandu US-Bangla Airlines flight, with 67 passengers and four crew members on board, caught fire after it careened off the runway and ploughed into a football ground near the Tribhuvan International Airport yesterday. "The flight data recorder has been recovered we have kept it safely," said Raj Kumar Chettri, the airport's general manager, adding that an investigation into the cause of the crash had begun. A suicide bombing hit Yemeni troops trained by the United Arab Emirates in the government bastion of Aden today, a security source said, with at least five casualties reported. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered an inquiry into the incident where consumption of spurious liquor claimed three lives.At least three people died and two are under treatment after they allegedly consumed spurious liquor in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad.The incident that took place in the Khora area of Ghaziabad came to light on Tuesday morning.The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government had passed a bill providing death penalty and life imprisonment for those dealing in illicit liquor.Earlier in January, nine people died after allegedly consuming poisonous alcohol at their relative's place in Barabanki.
Indigo cancels 47 flights today
Indigo airlines have cancelled as many as 47 flights on Tuesday due to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation's (DGCA) directive to the budget carrier to ground faulty Airbus A-320-neo aircrafts powered by Pratt and Whitney PW1100 engines."While we understand that this may cause inconvenience to some of our passengers, given that we have multiple flights to the same destination, we are proactively re-accommodating all our affected passengers on other flights," Indigo said in a statement this morning.The airline is also taking steps to ensure that all concerned passengers are compensated."All affected passengers have been given the option to either choose another flight at no additional cost or cancel their booking and get a full refund without any cancellation charges. IndiGo cancels 47 flights after DGCA grounds planes with faulty engines
Budget carrier IndiGo has cancelled as many as 47 flights today after the country's aviation regulator DGCA grounded its eight A320Neo planes with faulty Pratt & Whitney engines, along with three such aircraft of GoAir. IndiGo has cancelled 47 flights across its domestic network on March 13, the airline announced on its website. The flights that have been cancelled are from Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Patna, Srinagar, Bhubaneswar, Amritsar, Srinagar and Guwahati, among others. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation ( DGCA) cracked the whip after an IndiGo flight bound for Lucknow returned to Ahmedabad within 40 minutes of its getting airborne due to a mid-air engine failure yesterday. 5 killed in TN road mishap
Five people, including two women, died when a car collided with a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus in Tamil Nadu's Krishnagiri district on Tuesday.The people travelling in the car died on the spot.The police have reached the area and are shifting the bodies to the hospital for further proceedings.They are also trying to reach out the family of the deceased's.Further details are awaited.

The US today offered its sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims who were killed in a plane crash at the Tribhuvan International Airport. A Bangladeshi passenger aircraft crashed and burst into flames today while landing at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) here, killing at least 50 people, in Nepal's worst aviation disaster in more than 25 years. Container ship fire: Four missing crew members presumed dead
All four missing crew members, including an Indian national, of container liner 'Maersk Honam' are presumed dead in last week's fire, taking the toll to five, Global shipping firm Maersk Line announced today. The company said the remains of three unidentified crew members were discovered on board the vessel which continues to be on fire in the Arabian Sea.
