Former President Donald Trump's presidential campaign said Saturday that it has been hacked and suggested Iranian actors were involved in stealing and distributing sensitive internal documents. The campaign provided no specific evidence of Iran's involvement, but the claim comes a day after Microsoft issued a report detailing foreign agents' attempts to interfere in the US campaign in 2024. It cited an instance of an Iranian military intelligence unit in June sending a spear-phishing email to a high-ranking official of a presidential campaign from a compromised email account of a former senior advisor. Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung blamed the hack on foreign sources hostile to the United States. The National Security Council did not immediately respond to a request for comment Saturday by The Associated Press. Politico first reported Saturday on the hack. The outlet reported that it began receiving emails on July 22 from an anonymous account. The source an AOL email ..
US President Joe Biden on Sunday said that he decided to withdraw from the presidential election because he did not want to create "a real distraction" for the Democrats and let them fully concentrate on preventing former president Donald Trump from regaining the White House. In his first interview since ending his re-election campaign on July 21, Biden said that he had "no serious problem" with his health, but added that the highest priority had to be defeating former President Trump. "We must, we must, we must defeat Trump," Biden told CBS Sunday Morning in an interview. "The polls we had showed that it was a neck-and-neck race, would have been down to the wire. But what happened was, a number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought that I was gonna hurt them in the races," he said. "I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic. You'd be interviewing me about 'Why did Nancy Pelosi say' 'Why did so-and-so' And I thought it'd be a real ...
The Fed is an independent entity, and as president, I would never interfere in the decisions that the Fed makes, said Kamala Harris
Vice President Kamala Harris vowed Saturday that, if elected, she'd eliminate federal taxes on tips paid to restaurant workers and scores of other service employees, echoing a pledge that her opponent in November, Donald Trump, has made in a rare moment of political overlap from both sides. Harris made the announcement at a rally on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where the economy relies heavily on the hotel, restaurant and entertainment industries. Trump made a similar promise at his own rally in the city in June though neither he nor Harris are likely to be able to fully do that without actions from Congress. It is my promise to everyone here, when I am president, we will continue our fight for working families, Harris said, pledging to raise the minimum wage and eliminate tips for service and hospitality workers. The Democratic presidential nominee and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, came to Nevada as the final stop of a battleground blitz in which

Former President Donald Trump headed to Montana for a Friday night rally in hopes of ousting the state's Democratic senator, but his plane first had to divert to an airport on the other side of the Rocky Mountains because of a mechanical issue, according to airport staff. Trump's plane was en route to Bozeman, Montana, when it was diverted Friday afternoon to Billings, 142 miles to the east, according to Jenny Mockel, administrative assistant at Billings Logan International Airport. Mockel said the former president was continuing to Bozeman via private jet. Trump's campaign posted a video of him upon landing in which he said he was glad to be in Montana but did not mention anything about the landing. The former president came to Montana hoping to remedy some unfinished business from 2018, when he campaigned repeatedly in Big Sky Country in a failed bid to oust incumbent Democratic Sen. Jon Tester. Tester has tried to convince voters he's aligned with Trump on many issues, mirroring

Republican nominee Donald Trump had previously dropped out of the ABC News debate after President Joe Biden announced that he would not seek reelection
Trump also mentioned his past support for Harris, noting, I've known her for a long time
Donald Trump said on Thursday he is proposing three presidential debates with three television networks, saying he agreed on certain dates in September while acknowledging that Vice President Kamala Harris' campaign had not yet accepted those terms. The former president suggested there were agreements with Fox News, ABC News and NBC News as he held a news conference at his Florida beachside compound. It was his first public appearance since Harris became the Democratic presidential nominee and selected Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate. I think it's very important to have debates, Trump said. I look forward to the debates because I think we have to set the record straight. The Harris campaign had no immediate comment. Trump had teased an announcement about the presidential debate earlier this week after pulling out of an ABC News debate scheduled for September 10 after President Joe Biden ended his reelection campaign. Trump had said he would prefer that Fox News sponsor t

Nancy Pelosi's influence can be seen all across the Democratic Party shakeup that in a few short, agonising weeks has reengineered the 2024 presidential ticket and the race for the White House. It was Pelosi who publicly encouraged President Joe Biden to make a decision about his reelection campaign when he had already insisted he had no plans to step aside. Once he exited and endorsed Kamala Harris atop the ticket, it was Pelosi who was a big fan of her future running mate, Tim Walz. For the House speaker emerita the upheaval is less about Biden, a friend of 40 years, and more about Republican Donald Trump, the former president she refers to as Bozo, a snake-oil salesman, what's his name and the creature from the Black Lagoon. How can I say this in the nicest possible way: My goal in life was that man would never step in the White House again, Pelosi said, slapping the table with every word. Pelosi spoke Wednesday with reporters and columnists about her new book, The Art of Power,
The interview was conducted in the White House and will be aired on August 11
One of the last remaining U.S. House Republicans who voted to impeach Donald Trump and a candidate endorsed by the former president have advanced in Tuesday's primary to the general election in Washington state's 4th Congressional District. U.S. Rep. Dan Newhouse is seeking a sixth term in the conservative Washington district that runs from the Canadian border to the Columbia River. He will face Republican Jerrod Sessler, a Navy veteran and former NASCAR driver, in November. This was a rematch for the pair from 2022, when Sessler earned a distant fourth in the primary. This time, Sessler said things have gone his way. He was endorsed by the Washington State Republican Party and nabbed Trump's backing early on, which he called a game change. He said he communicates regularly with Trump's team, referencing a text he said he received from the GOP presidential candidate this year saying, The country is counting on you. In ninety days, this district is going to vote overwhelmingly for ..
A California woman is charged with taking a cache of weapons, including a sword, a steel whip and a knife into the US Capitol during the January 6, 2021, attack by a mob of Donald Trump supporters, according to court records unsealed Wednesday. Kennedy Lindsey had a short sword, a steel tactical whip, a collapsible baton, pepper spray, a butterfly knife and a flashlight taser in her possession when a US Secret Service officer searched her backpack, according to an FBI affidavit. Lindsey was arrested in Los Angeles last month on charges including disorderly conduct and possession of a dangerous weapon in a Capitol building. More than 1,400 people have been charged with Capitol riot-related federal crimes. Rioters were armed with an array of weapons on January 6, including firearms, knives and stun guns. Many others used items like flagpoles and broken pieces of office furniture as makeshift weapons during the siege. Lindsey was charged with a woman who flew with her from California

Vice President Kamala Harris introduced Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz to the nation on Tuesday at a raucous rally in Philadelphia just hours after announcing the affable politician as her running mate. I set out to find a partner who can help build this brighter future, Harris said, joking that the past two weeks since she stepped into the race have been something of a whirlwind. I'm here today because I've found such a leader." In choosing the 60-year-old Walz, Harris is elevating a Midwestern governor, military veteran and union supporter who helped enact an ambitious Democratic agenda for his state, including sweeping protections for abortion rights and generous aid to families. It was her biggest decision yet as the Democratic nominee and she went with a broadly palatable choice someone who says politics should have more joy and who deflects dark and foreboding rhetoric from Republicans with a lighter touch, a strategy that the campaign has been increasingly turning to since Harris
