Thandla tehsil's Judicial Magistrate First Class Jai Patidar on Monday turned down the bail plea of Manoj Verma, 35, additional district prosecution officer Ravi Prakash Rai said. Verma allegedly directed students to slap the girl, then studying in Class 6 at Jawahar Navodaya School in Thandla town, in January last year, he said. The Telangana High Court Wednesday directed the state government and the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) to declare the results of re-verified answer scripts and upload answer sheets of all failed students by May 27. A notice was also issued to IT firm Globarena Technologies, which handled the intermediate results, asking its representatives to appear before the court. The court posted the matter to June 6 for further hearing. The AISA Wednesday expressed solidarity with the teachers of DU's St Stephen's College who were issued warning letters by the administration for objecting to the inclusion of a member of institution's Supreme Council in the interview panel for selection of students. The left-wing student organisation said it was an attempt by the church to intervene in academic matters of the colleges. Delhi minister Rajendra Pal Gautam Wednesday made a surprise inspection of a blind school and hostel in North Delhi's Kingsway Camp area and took stock of the facilities being provided to students there, according to an official statement. According to an official, around 140 students are currently staying at the facility. "The social welfare minister took note of the cleanliness, bedding, books, clothes, lodging and other facilities provided to them. Five teachers are among six government officials suspended for remaining absent from duty without approval in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district Wednesday, officials said. A team of officers of the education department conducted surprise visits to 11 government schools and offices in Rajouri district and found one government middle school locked as no teacher had come to duty, they said. Then the Chief Education Officer of Rajouri, M A Rather, ordered suspension of five teachers, they said, adding they have also been detached from the school with immediate effect. A total of 60.23 per cent of the 3,36,203 students passed the matriculation (class 10) examination the results of which were declared on Wednesday by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA). Meghashree Borah of Sankardev Shishu Bidya Niketan in Lakhimpur topped the examination with 594 marks out of 600, which is 99 per cent. A suspicious looking object which later turned out to be a pyrotechnic item was found on Tuesday morning at the Air Force Station of Lohegaon by a staff member of the Air Force School, Vimannagar, the Indian Air Force (IAF) said in a press release."This morning a staff member of Air Force School, Vimannagar, located at Air Force Station, Lohegaon, found a suspicious looking object in the school ground, which is adjacent to a civil residential area. Students of Delhi Police Public schools, who scored good marks in their Class 10 and 12 exams, were felicitated on Tuesday, officials said. The students from the schools' campuses in Safdarjung Enclave and New Police Lines were felicitated by Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik. "As many as 23 students were awarded merit certificates for being school toppers and for securing cent per cent marks in various subjects," the police department said. Out of these 23 students, 18 students were wards of Delhi Police personnel, police said. Patnaik also commended principals of both the schools as well as school faculty for putting sincere efforts, which resulted in getting excellent results, the officials said.
Four students from Andhra Pradesh have scored perfect 100 in the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE)-Main for admission to architecture courses, the HRD Ministry's National Testing Agency (NTA) announced on Tuesday. The four students are Gollapudi N Lakshmi Narayana, Korapati Nikhil Ratna, Sykam Ritesh Reddy and Gudla Raghunandan Reddy. For the first time, the JEE-Main examination of Paper-2 (B.Arch/B.Planning) was conducted two times through CBT-Online mode, in this year, the NTA said. The first examination was conducted on January 8 in two shifts, and the second JEE(Main) exam for Paper-2 was conducted on April 7. It said a total of 2.27 lakh candidates had appeared for the examination. For those candidates who appeared in both the January and April examination, better of the two scores have been taken into account, it said. Out of 61,510 candidates appearing in both the months, 27,624 have improved their performance.
