Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram Saturday announced establishment of Ekalavya model residential schools in 36 blocks of Meghalaya at the cost of Rs 20 crore each. He said the project of constructing the 36 schools will be completed in three years. "The Tribal Affairs Ministry is contemplating to establish 36 Ekalavya model residential schools in Meghalaya. These model schools will be constructed at the cost of Rs 20 crore each," Oram said while addressing a function at the St Anthonys College here. Established under the Tribal Affairs Ministry, the Ekalavya model residential school (EMRS) is a Government of India scheme for model residential school for tribals identified under the Scheduled Tribes across the country. At least 12 students were injured after a school bus hit a divider at the Rajnigandha Chowk underpass in Noida on Saturday morning.The bus was from Apeejay School's Noida branch. Sources from the registrar office said Professor K T S Sarao, the head of the Department of Buddhist Studies, has written to the registrar office after they received confirmation from the Thiruvalluvar University that Baisoya was never a student of the varsity. "He has written a letter to registrar informing about the cancellation of admission. A copy of this has been given to SHO (Maurice Nagar). We have written to the registar. The Himachal Pradesh government will provide a one time scholarship of Rs 10,000 each to 20 toppers of class 8 to 12 living in orphanages in the state, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said Friday. The scholarships will be provided to 10 boys and as many girls who will top class 8 to 12 annual examinations in joint merit list of Bal Ashrams or Bal Grah in the state, he said. The scholarships would be provided under the Mukhya Mantri Bal Uddhar Yojana. Thakur made the announcement at a state-level closing ceremony of sports and cultural meet for children living in orphanages organised by the Directorate of Women and Child Development Department at Balika Ashram in Tutikandi here on Friday. In a good news for students in Delhi, the government has started implementing its decision to allow concessional passes for them in air-conditioned public transport buses. The passes that cost Rs 100 per month were so far allowed only in non-AC buses in the city run by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and cluster buses of Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System. Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot Friday said a notification validating the concessional student passes in air-conditioned buses has been issued and implemented. "Congratulations to Delhi students. As promised by your government now your student pass is valid in AC buses. Notification has been issued & the decision has now been implemented," Gahlot tweeted.
