Nearly 6,900 acre of land and USD 9 billion investments will be required by 2030 for setting up facilities for EV (electric vehicle) manufacturing, lithium-ion battery production and public charging stations, according to Savills India. Real estate consultant Savills India has released report 'Charged for Change: How EVs Are Reshaping Indian Real Estate' stating that the EV market in India has witnessed significant growth in recent years, driven by market forces, government policies, rising environmental concerns, and increasing fuel costs. The government has launched several initiatives to accelerate EV adoption and strengthen the supporting ecosystem. "An investment of USD 7.5 to 9 billion will be required by 2030, primarily for land acquisition and the development of facilities for EV manufacturing, lithium-ion battery production, and public charging stations," the consultant said. 22 crew members rescued in North Pacific after ship with cars catches fire

The crew of a cargo ship carrying 3,000 vehicles to Mexico, including 800 electric vehicles, abandoned ship after they could not control a fire aboard the vessel in waters off Alaska's Aleutian island chain. A large plume of smoke was initially seen at the ship's stern coming from the deck loaded with electric vehicles Tuesday, according to U.S. Coast Guard photos and a Wednesday statement from the ship's management company, London-based Zodiac Maritime. There were no reported injuries among the 22 crew members of the Morning Midas. Crew members abandoned ship, were evacuated onto a lifeboat and rescued by the crew of a nearby merchant vessel called the Cosco Hellas in the North Pacific, roughly 490 kilometers southwest of Adak Island. Adak is about 1,930 kilometers west of Anchorage, the state's largest city. The crew initiated emergency firefighting procedures with the ship's onboard fire suppression system. Delhi govt to provide subsidies to promote e-vehicles, says CM Gupta

Delhi government will provide subsidies to people to promote electric vehicle adoption in Delhi in its new policy, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday. Delivering a valedictory address at Aironomics, 2025 convention, she highlighted Delhi government's different initiatives to combat air pollution. Transformation of all the vehicles, including private ones, into electric vehicles (EVs) is a big vision for which Delhi government is coming up with a new EV policy, she said. "We will urge people to purchase electric vehicles for which they will be provided subsidies," she said. Gupta also said that air pollution is a year long problem that required sustained efforts for which her government is hiring 1000 water sprinklers to be used to combat dust on the roads through out the year. Terra Motors launches electric auto to boost presence in L5-EV segment

Electric vehicle maker Terra Motors on Tuesday expanded its electric vehicle range in the country as it looks to strengthen its presence in the country. The Japanese firm, which introduced the electric three-wheeler KYORO+ to cater to the passenger segment, already has a sizable presence in electric rickshaws (L3) in India having sold over 1.5 lakh units so far. With the new model, the company aims to bolster its position in the electric three-wheeler segment (L5). Terra Motors India Managing Director Go Suzuki said the company aims to garner around 5-8 per cent market share in the segment which sees sales of around 1.5-1.6 lakh units per annum. The company also has ambitious plans to scale up the sales network and production capacity in the country, he noted. "We aim to establish 100 dealerships across the country and scale up production capacity of the electric auto-rickshaws to around 5,000 units per month," Suzuki said.
