ESIC adds 1.6 million new members in November, 317K females: Payroll data

The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) added 15.92 lakh new members in November 2023, according to provisional payroll data released on Tuesday. Around 20,830 new establishments were registered and brought under the social security umbrella of ESIC in November ensuring more coverage, the labour ministry said in a statement. The data shows that more jobs were generated for the youth during the month as out of the total 15.92 lakh employees added, 7.47 lakh, which constituted 47 per cent of the total registrations, were up to the age group of 25 years. Net enrolment of female members was 3.17 lakh in November 2023, according to the data. A total of 58 transgender employees were registered under ESI Scheme in November. It shows that ESIC is committed to delivering its benefits to every section of the society, the ministry stated. The payroll data is provisional since the data generation is a continuous exercise.

RIL launches Graduate Engineer Trainee programme, to hire engineers

Reliance Industries Ltd, India's largest company, has launched the Graduate Engineer Trainee programme, aiming to hire graduate engineers across businesses - from petrochemicals to new energy. Reliance has opened its entry-level recruitment drive for young engineers named the Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET) 2024 programme from all over India, with an aim to nurture young, high-potential engineering talent for key technical roles across business verticals, the firm said on its website. This year, the application process has been taken online for the first time. Registration for the programme has started from January 11 and will remain open till January 19, the firm said on its website. Over 26,000 candidates, who have been skilled till November 2023 under the Rail Kaushal Vikas Yojana, will not have any preference in jobs in the Indian Railways, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw informed the Rajya Sabha on Friday. Corporate India's hiring sentiment for the next three months is one of the highest across the world, with 37 per cent of employers planning to increase their staff strength amid buoyant domestic demand conditions, says a survey. According to the latest ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey of nearly 3,100 employers across sectors and regions, the Net Employment Outlook (NEO) in India is the highest amongst 41 countries.
