South Korean actress once kidnapped to North dies at 91

A South Korean actress who was once kidnapped by the North's agents on the orders of leader Kim Jong Un's late father and forced to make movies for the regime has died aged 91, her family said. Choi Eun-hee was the South's most famous actress for decades before being brazenly abducted by North Korean spies in Hong Kong in 1978 at the request of the North's then leader-in-waiting Kim Jong Il, an avid film fan. During her visit to Hong Kong to meet a potential investor in her arts school, she was reportedly lured onto a boat by her guide before being transferred against her will to a cargo ship destined for North Korea. Her husband Shin Sang-ok, a top director, was taken to the North soon after, although circumstances over his alleged abduction remain unclear. Priyanka returns to Bollywood with Salman's 'Bharat'

After a gap of over two years, actor Priyanka Chopra is all set to come back to the Indian film industry with Salman Khan's "Bharat". 'Night Court' star Harry Anderson, 65, found dead in home

Harry Anderson, the actor best known for playing an off-the-wall judge working the night shift of a Manhattan court room in the television comedy series "Night Court," was found dead in his North Carolina home today. Anderson was 65. A statement from the Asheville Police Department said officers responded to a call from Anderson's home early today and found him dead. The statement said foul play is not suspected. On "Night Court," Anderson played Judge Harry T. Stone, a young jurist who professed his love for singer Mel Torme, actress Jean Harlow, magic tricks and his collection of art-deco ties. Order allowing screening of 'Nanak Shah Fakir' to continue: SC

The screening of the controversial movie 'Nanak Shah Fakir', based on the life of the first guru of the Sikhs, will continue, with the Supreme Court today ruling that its interim order allowing its release would remain operational. A bench headed by Chief Justice Dipak Misra said it would hear on May 8 the submission and the counter on behalf of the film producer and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the apex Sikh religious body, on the movie. The SGPC vehemently referred to its 2003 notification and said it had specifically prohibited anyone from portraying any of the ten 'Gurus', their family members and 'Panj Pyare' on the silver screen. 'Panj Pyare' were five men who were initiated into the the brotherhood of the Sikh faith by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699. "The release of the movie was directly in teeth of Article 26 (2) (fundamental right to freedom to manage religious affairs) of the Constitution," senior advocate P S Patwalia, appearing for the SGPC, told the ...
