John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle are developing a project about columnist Dorothy Kilgallen, whose own investigation into the assassination of John F Kennedy criticised the findings of the Warren Report. Dowdle brothers, who created the recent Paramount Network series "Waco", have optioned Mark Shaw's true-crime novel "The Reporter Who Knew Too Much: The Mysterious Death of What's My Line TV Star and Media Icon Dorothy Kilgallen", according to The Hollywood Reporter. "The Reporter Who Knew Too Much" centers on a legal analyst telling the story of Kilgallen while providing new evidence surrounding her untimely death. Kilgallen was conducting an in-depth investigation probes into the assassination of President John F Kennedy, but was found dead in her apartment in 1965. Though initially ruled an accidental overdose, her death has remained suspicious for some, including Shaw. "Pyaar Ka Punchnama" director Luv Ranjan, whose film "Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety" has become a hit at the box office, believes sequels work as a safety net, giving a filmmaker the luxury to experiment with other stories. He has already come up with a sequel to "Punchnama" and hopes to bring its third part soon, provided he has a good story. "Sequels are part of your safety net and they give you the luxury to experiment with other films and yet maintain the commercial viability. I don't mind taking ahead both the films. But 'Sonu Ke...' has just released so it is too early to make it," he told PTI. Ranjan said he would not make the third part of "Punchnama' in haste as it will ruin the franchise. "Sequels are today considered a safe proposition. But I would rather not make a sequel than making a bad one. Come Saturday and the city will be hosting a two-day festival discussing developmental dialogues relevant to democracy in the country. Titled 'Festival of Democracy', organised by Anjaneya Seva Samiti in collaboration with Talk India Foundation, it will hold discussions about vivid aspects of the nation ranging from politics to cinema. "The festival will be a platform to discuss substantive dialogue about vivid aspects of the nation, including politics, literature, art, health, sports, education, cinema and others," said Sudhir Soni, one of the organiser. Eminent personalities from across the country are expected to take part in the event which includes former MP CP Joshi, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal, Delhi Power Minister Satyendra Jain and AAP leader Ashutosh Gupta. The show will mark the former "Vampire Diaries" star's first series-regular role since she departed the CW drama, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Fam" revolves around a woman whose dreams of an upstanding life with her new fiance and his upstanding family are dashed when her younger train-wreck half-sister comes to live with her to escape their train wreck of a father. Veteran actor Michael Caine says he is a feminist and "agrees" with the women who are campaigning for more "freedom" and equal rights. "Women want more freedom and I agree with that. The Bombay High Court today refused to grant any interim relief to actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor on an FIR filed against them and some other film personalities in 2015 for allegedly using obscene and abusive language during the comedy event 'AIB Knockout'. A bench of justices R M Savant and Sarang Kotwal directed the actors' lawyer to first serve a copy of their plea to one of the complainants in the case, activist Santosh Dundkar. The actors had urged the court to direct, by way of an interim relief, the Pune and Mumbai police to refrain from taking any coercive action against them. The bench, however, said it will consider the prayer only after the complainant was provided a copy of the petition, and scheduled the matter for further hearing on April 3. Popular psychological thriller, "Woh Kaun Thi?", featuring yesteryear diva Sadhana and veteran actor Manoj Kumar, is set to get a remake. KriArj Entertainment has acquired the rights of the 1964 film from NN Sippy. The remake will also feature two iconic songs from the original film "Naina barse rimjhim" and "Lag ja gale se" crooned by legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. "The minute we acquired the remake rights we thought of the songs. These two songs form the backbone of 'Woh Kaun Thi'. The film cannot be imagined without those songs. "It is a classic timeless film with the epitome of beauty Sadhana ji, Lata ji and the great actor Manoj Kumarj who are true legends. This is the mark of respect and a tribute to them and the kind of film we had in that era," producer Prernaa Aroma said in a statement. The original was directed by Raj Khosla. The makers are yet to rope in the lead cast and director for the remake.
