29 candidates file nominations from Kerala

Twentynine candidates filed their nominations from Kerala Saturday for the April 23 Lok Sabha elections. Among the LDF candidates, who filed their nominations, were C Divakaran (Thiruvananthapuram), P Jayarayan (Vatakara), P K Sreemathy (Kannur), K Pradeep Kumar (Kozhikode), P Rajeev (Ernakulam), A M Ariff (Alapuzha), A Sampath (Attingal) and film actor and sitting MP, Innocent (Chalakudy). BJP general secretary P Surendran, who is contesting from Pathnamthitta, also filed his papers, election department officials said. The UDF candidates, who filed their nominations are, M K Raghavan (Kozhikode) and Shanimol Usman (Alapuzha). With this, 52 candidates have filed their papers for the 20 Lok Sabha seats in Kerala since the process began on Thursday. The last date for filing nominations is April 4 while scrutiny would be held the next day with April 8 being the last day for withdrawal.

Will pay maintenance with Cong's NYAY dole, actor to MP court

A television actor has told a local family court that he will pay maintenance to his estranged wife and daughter with the money he gets from the Congress' proposed minimum income guarantee scheme, Nyuntam Aay Yojana (NYAY). On March 12, the family court had ordered Anand Sharma (38) to pay an interim monthly maintenance amount of Rs 4,500 to his wife and their 12-year-old daughter, who have been living separately for some time now. A dispute between the couple is pending in court. His petition, presented in the family court, contended that he performs small roles in TV serials and earns Rs 5,000-Rs 6,000 per month. It said that he also has to look after his parents. Sharma, who described himself as a struggling TV actor, asked the court to put off the March 12 order till the formation of the Congress government (post Lok Sabha polls) because his financial condition is not such that he could make regular payments to his wife. Veteran actor Judi Dench says Idris Elba would be a ''brilliant'' James Bond. The 84-year-old actor, who played MI6 chief 'M' in seven Bond films before her character met her end in 2012's "Skyfall", said she used to joke about Elba's chances of the role when they both filmed "Cats" together. Director Faruk Kabir says his film "377 Ab Normal" is primarily for the hetrosexual population of India. The filmmaker said he has treated the story with sensitivity. "It is a sensitively portrayed story, none of it is caricaturish. Every gay man doesn't need to be a feminine. Mckenna Grace joins 'Ghostbusters' cast

"Captain Marvel" actor McKenna Grace has joined the cast of "Ghostbusters". The film revolves around a family headed by a single mother, reported Variety. The news comes weeks after it was reported that Carrie Coon is in talks to play the mom and Finn Wolfhard is in negotiations to play her son. Jason Reitman has co-written the screenplay of the film with Gil Kenan and is also directing the project. The untitled movie will be produced by his father, Ivan Reitman, who directed and produced the original 1984 film. Veteran actor Nicolas Cage has ended his fourth marriage just four days after the wedding, which took place in Las Vegas. Cage and makeup artiste Erika Koike applied for a wedding license on March 23 (Sunday) and were wed the same day. By Wednesday, the actor applied for an annulment. According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, the 55-year-old actor "lacked understanding of his actions in marrying (Koike) to the extent that he was incapable of agreeing to the marriage. Prior to obtaining a marriage license and participating in a marriage ceremony, (they) were both drinking to the point of intoxication." Cillian Murphy in negotiations to join 'A Quiet Place' sequel

Actor Cillian Murphy is in early talks to join the cast of John Krasinski's "A Quiet Place" sequel. The still-untitled film has Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe reprising their roles from the 2018 hit prequel, which revolved around an isolated family of four that must live in silence while hiding from creatures that hunt by sound. It's not yet known what role Murphy will play if his deal goes through, reported Variety. Paramount announced in August that it had dated the sequel to "A Quiet Place" for May 15, 2020. Rohit Shetty to produce an action thriller series

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty says he will be taking the digital plunge and is all set to back an action thriller web series through his production house. The "Simmba" director said the show will be mounted on a huge scale. "I am producing one web series. It's on a big scale, that's why it's taking time. We have been writing it for nearly two years now. But by next year January we will start shooting. It's an action thriller," Shetty told reporters. The director was speaking on the sidelines of HT Most Stylish Awards, Friday night. Currently the filmmaker is gearing up to go on floors with his next, "Sooryavanshi", featuring Akshay Kumar as a cop. There were reports that Katrina Kaif has been approached to star in the film but Shetty said they are in the midst of finalising the female lead. "We will start the film next month, in May.
