Johnny Depp slaps USD 50 million defamation lawsuit on Amber Heard

Hollywood star Johnny Depp has filed a USD 50 million defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife and actor Amber Heard for accusing him of domestic violence in an article. According to The Blast, the 55-year-old actor's lawsuit is his response to Heard's Washington Post op-ed that she wrote last year, in which she claimed to be a victim of abuse. "Ms. Heard is not a victim of domestic abuse, she is a perpetrator," says the suit, while calling the allegations against Depp as "hoax". Heard "purported to write from the perspective of 'a public figure representing domestic abuse' and claimed that she 'felt the full force of our culture's wrath for women who speak out' when she 'spoke up against sexual violence'," Depp's lawyers stated in the lawsuit. Warner Bros hires Matthew Robinson to pen script for 'Edge Of Tomorrow' sequel

The sequel to Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt-starrer "Edge of Tomorrow" is moving ahead at Warner Bros. The studio has tapped Matthew Robinson to pen the script for the sequel of the 2014 film that grossed over USD 370 million at the global box office, reported Deadline. The original film, directed by Doug Liman, followed Cruise's character, a public relations officer with no training, who finds himself caught in a time loop that resurrects him each time he is killed by the aliens. Blunt played Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski in the movie and she is expected to return for the sequel along with Liman and Cruise. The new film will be produced by Erwin Stoff, Tom Lassally, and Masi Oka, with Hisashi Sasaki serving as executive producer.

Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard in talks for new 'Ghostbusters' movie

"Stranger Things" star Finn Wolfhard and actor Carrie Coon are in negotiations to star in Jason Reitman's new "Ghostbusters" film. The much talked about film will see Coon and Wolfhard playing mother and son, sources close to the production told Variety. Coon, 38, is best known for the series, "Fargo" and "The Sinner". Nonagenarian tribal musician gets AB Vajpayee Life Time award

Thanga Darlong, a nonagenarian tribal musician, who plays Rosem, a flute like tribal musical instrument made of bamboo, was conferred Atal Bihari Vajpayee Life Time Award by the Tripura government. Tripura Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Devvarma handed over the first AB Vajpayee Life Time Achievement Award to Darlong on Thursday at the Agartala Book Fair and congratulated him for preserving the musical form. Earlier in January this year, the 99-year old tribal musician was conferred the prestigious Padma Shri award for his contribution to the field of music. Born on July 20, 1920 at Muruai village of Tripura, Darlong learned the nuance of playing Rosem a traditional musical instrument of the Darlong community from music maestro Darthuama Darlong. Darlong was awarded Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2014.
