'Mary Kom', '1983', 'MSD: The Untold Story' to have open air screenings at IFFI
Indian sports biopics, such as "Mary Kom", "1983" and "MSD: The Untold Story", will have open air screenings at the the 49th edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). The festival, to be held from November 20 to 28 in Goa, will give a hat-tip to the Khelo India initiative this year by recognising the contribution of Indian sportspersons. This section features a total of six Indian films that are based on the genre of sports biopics, which will also showcase "Gold", "Bhaag Milkha Bhaag" and "Soorma". "Gold" director Reema Kagti and lead Akshay Kumar, "Bhaag..." director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, "Soorma" director Shaad Ali and producer Chitrangda Singh and "1983" director Abrid Shine will be present at the screenings of their films at the international movie gala. Akshay will also be present at IFFI's opening ceremony. The biopics will be screened at Jogger's Park in Altinho, Panjim and will be open for public. This is a non-ticketed event.

Naseeruddin Shah has no qualms in accepting that he has worked for money in some films but says the more tempting way for an actor to get corrupted is by becoming a star. "The easiest way for an actor to get corrupted is by becoming a star. Then you start believing your own myth. You start believing what the press writes about you. That's very dangerous," Naseeruddin told PTI. The actor says, no matter what position one holds in the industry, it is impossible to foresee the heights one can reach before signing a film. Govinda alleges few film industry people are not letting his films release
In wake of several cuts given to his upcoming film "Rangeela Raja", Govinda has alleged that there is a group of people in the industry, who are conspiring to not let his films release. A press conference was held Saturday evening after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) reportedly refused to certify the film and ordered 20 cuts. The film is produced by former CBFC chief and filmmaker Pahlaj Nihalani. "This has been happening for the last nine years where a group of people in the film industry is conspiring against me and not letting my films release on any good platform," Govinda told reporters. "Either my films are not getting a release or they are not getting good number of theatres or screens. The recent example was "Fryday" which released a few weeks ago and media gave it a good review. IFFI 2018 to screen 10 Israeli films as part of country focus feature
"Working Woman" and "Longing" are among the 10 Israeli films that will be screened at the 49th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) as part of the country focus package. Israel is the focus country at this year's movie extravaganza. The festival, to be held from November 20 to 28 in Goa, will screen 10 films in collaboration with the Consulate General of Israel in Mumbai. Avi Nesher's "The Other Story" will kick off the segment. "Crazy Rich Asians" star Michelle Yeoh is in negotiations to play the lead role in the "Star Trek Discovery" spin-off. According to Deadline, the actor is in talks to continue her journey as Captain Emperor Georgiou for a standalone "Star Trek" series for CBS All Access. Yeoh was the first actor cast in "Star Trek: Discovery," the first new series in the franchise in years. The actor, who recurred in season one of "Discovery", will return in season two as the new spin-off series would likely follow her adventures in Starfleet's Section 31 division. The potential spin-off is not the only new "Star Trek" project in the works, as it was announced this summer that Patrick Stewart will reprise his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in another CBS All Access series.
