Usher drops new album 'A'

Singer-rapper Usher has surprised his fans with a brand new album, titled 'A'. The new LP comes two days before the "My Boo" singer celebrates his 40th birthday, reported Entertainment Weekly. The R&B singer has reteamed with producer Zaytoven for eight-song album, which is dedicated to his home city of Atlanta. Usher and Zaytoven have earlier worked on 2009 song "Papers". His last released album was 'Hard II Love' in 2016. On Instagram, the singer also unveiled a video teaser of the new album. It features Usher and Zaytoven cruising around the city and checking out familiar Atlanta haunts, including Cascade Family Skating roller rink and a Waffle House alongside stops at strip clubs. The album features collaborations with Atlanta rappers Future and Gunna on the first and last tracks of the record, respectively.

Berenice Bejo to lead 'Josephine and Napoleon' series

"The Artist" actor Berenice Bejo is set to lead the "Josephine and Napolean" series. The English-language period drama is created by British showrunner Tony Saint, reported Variety. The eight-part series is based on Andrew Roberts' "Napoleon: A Life" and Kate Williams' "The Dangerous Life of Josephine Bonaparte". The series will be directed by a French and English filmmaker duo who will be announced later, along with a French writer who will be working with Saint. It is being produced by the British company Ecosse Films and Pascal Breton's Paris-based Federation Entertainment for the network France Televisions. Bejo, who received an Oscar nomination for her performance in Michel Hazanavicius' "The Artist", will play Josephine, Napoleon Bonaparte's first wife, lover, and muse. Rob Lowe to star in crime drama 'Wild Bill'

Actor Rob Lowe is set to star in and executive produce crime drama "Wild Bill" for British broadcaster ITV. In the six-part series Lowe will play high-flying US cop Bill Hixon, who is appointed chief of police in East Lincolnshire, a rural part of Eastern England. "Wild Bill" is created by David Griffiths, Kyle Killen, and Dudi Appleton and Jim Keeble, and will be written by lead writers and showrunners Keeble and Appleton, reported Variety. The story revolves around Hixon, who arrives in Boston, Lincolnshire, with his 14 year-old daughter Kelsey. He hopes they can flee their painful recent past. But this unfamiliar, unimpressed community will force Hixon to question everything about himself and leave him asking whether it's Boston that needs him, or he needs Boston? 'Iron Fist' canceled after two seasons at Netflix

Marvel's Iron Fist has been cancelled by Netflix after two seasons. The series featured Finn Jones as the titular superhero character, a martial arts expert with the ability to call upon a mystical power known as the "Iron Fist". In a joint statement, obtained by Variety, the streaming giant and Marvel Television confirmed that the show is ending. "Marvel's 'Iron Fist' will not return for a third season on Netflix. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners," read the statement. "We're thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we've shared on this series. Actors Jeffrey Dean Morgan and David Strathairn have been roped in to star in the family drama "Walkaway Joe". The film, which has begun shooting in St John's Parish, Los Angeles, also features Julian Feder and Julie Ann Emery, reported Variety. Tom Wright is making his directorial debut with the film. Michael Milillo has penned the script. "Walkaway Joe" is about an unlikely friendship between a teenage boy searching for his father, who has abandoned his family. 'Angry Birds' series in works

The first longform 'Angry Birds' series is in the works and will be aimed at six-to-twelve year-olds. Finnish firm Rovio, which owns the "Angry Birds" property, has roped producer and distributor Cake to make the new series, reported Variety. The producers have not revealed how many episodes there will be or how long each installment will run. "Long-form content marks the obvious next step in extending the 'Angry Birds' brand on the small screen," said Tom van Waveren, CEO & creative director at Cake.
