While #MeToo movement is picking momentum in India, Adhyayan Suman has posted a series of tweets saying that when he shared his story, he was humiliated and shamed.The 'Raaz: The Mystery Continues' actor began by tweeting, "A lot of people asking me to share my #metoo story..I am sorry but when I did that 2 years ago I was shamed and humiliated."Revealing that he faced a lot of criticism for sharing his story, Adhyayan wrote, "My parents whom I love the most had to listen to some obscene things on National tv ..I was clearly told that a guy with a failed career doesn't. Have the right to share his painfull and dark experience. Australian films will be screened in Indian film fests: Sidhu

Cine buffs will be delighted to see Australian classics and childrens films and documentaries in upcoming film festivals in the country. "I am delighted that we could share Australian stories through the diverse range of films presented as part of our Australia Fest film showcase. I hope that Indian audiences will enjoy them," Australian High Commissioner to India Harinder Sidhu said in a statement Friday. Australia will be the focus country at the 24th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) next month when many award-winning Australian films will be screened and some of the country's celebrated filmmakers will be there to showcase their work, the statement said. Four award-winning films - 'Gurrumul', 'Lost and Found', 'Brothers Nest' and 'Trespass' - will feature in the Delhi International Film Festival. Critically acclaimed childrens short animation - The Lost Thing - will be presented in the Jio MAMI Film Festival and the Chennai International Film .

Annapurna Devi passes away

Legendary musician Annapurna Devi died at Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai Saturday, hospital officials said. She was 91. She passed away at 3.51 am. She was suffering from age related issues for the past few years, hospital officials said. Annapurna Devi was an Indian surbahar player of Hindustani classical music and she was the daughter and disciple of Allauddin Khan. She was married to sitar maestro Ravi Shankar.

Sound mixer falls to death on set of new Tom Hanks movie

An award-winning sound mixer died after falling from a balcony on the set of a new movie starring Tom Hanks as the children's television presenter Mr Rogers. James Emswiller, who won an Emmy award in 2015, appeared to have fallen from a balcony in Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania, during a break in shooting, police said. Police said witnesses had reported that Emswiller, 61, "was alone on the balcony taking a cigarette break when he may have suffered a medical emergency resulting in his fall from the balcony." "Initial information does not indicate any foul play," the police said. Emergency services rushed Emswiller, who had previously worked on the superhero film "The Avengers", as well as the teen tear-jerker "The Fault in Our Stars", to hospital but he died shortly afterwards, local media said. Police said shooting of the movie, provisionally titled "You Are my Friend", was halted while they investigated the fatal fall. The movie is based on the creator of the much-loved children's show

Prince estate to Trump: Stop using music at rallies

Prince's surviving family members are asking President Donald Trump to stop using the late rock star's music at campaign rallies. Prince's "Purple Rain" has frequently been on Trump's playlist at recent rallies, including last week in South Haven, Mississippi. A statement retweeted on behalf of the estate by Prince's half-brother Omarr Baker said "The Prince Estate has never given permission to President Trump or the White House to use Prince's songs and have requested that they cease all use immediately." Neither an attorney for the estate nor a White House spokeswoman immediately responded to messages from The Associated Press. Prince died in 2016 from an accidental fentanyl overdose at his Paisley Park complex in Chanhassen, Minnesota.

Nana Patekar distances himself from Housefull 4

Amid allegations of sexual harassment against him, actor Nana Patekar Friday distanced himself from Housefull 4, saying he did not want to cause inconvenience to the people involved with the project. The development came hours after Housefull 4 director Sajid Khan stepped aside following allegations of sexual harassment. "Nanasaheb do not want any inconvenience caused to anyone and hence in the backdrop of false accusations levelled against him he thought it fit to distance himself with the ongoing project of 'Housefull 4'," Malhar, son of Patekar, said in a statement issued here. Actor Tanushree Dutta has accused Patekar of sexual misconduct on the sets of the film "Horn Ok Pleassss" in 2008. She has filed a case of sexual harassment against Patekar, choreographer Ganesh Acharya, producer Samee Siddiqui and director Rakesh Sarang. Patekar has denied the allegations levelled by Dutta.

Cal HC asks Vodafone to deposit Rs 2.5cr over copyright issue

The Calcutta High Court Friday directed Vodafone Idea Ltd to deposit Rs 2.5 crore in the court registry over Indian Performing Rights Society (IPRS) Ltd's copyright claim on the telecom company's use of songs for its value-added services. In an interim order, Justice Soumen Sen directed Vodafone and the IPRS to file affidavits with regard to their stands on the issue. The IPRS moved the high court claiming copyright over the songs and prayed for restraining the telecom firm from using those for its value-added services such as caller ringback tones and mobile apps like Vodafone Play, Idea Music and Idea Movies & TV. The court directed Vodafone Idea Ltd to deposit Rs 2.5 crore with the Registrar, Original Side of the high court, within three weeks. "In the event such amount is deposited within the aforesaid time, the defendant would be allowed to continue with the services provided by it to its subscribers, until the disposal of the matter," Justice Sen said.
