A fire at a wedding hall in northern Iraq killed at least 100 people and injured 150 others, authorities said Wednesday. The fire happened in Iraq's Nineveh province in its Hamdaniya area, they said. A fire in a nine-story apartment building in Vietnam's capital killed about 12 people and injured more than 50, state media reported Wednesday. Fire erupts in electric meter box at Mumbai housing society, no injuries

A fire erupted in the electric meter box of a housing society in Mumbai's western suburb of Andheri East on Saturday morning following which fire officials broke the window grille of a flat to rescue its occupants, an official said. Flame and smoke began rising from the meter box of the six-storey building around 8.50 am, prompting the residents to call the fire brigade. Car catches fire in Maharashtra's Thane; 7 members of family escape unhurt

Seven members of a family had a narrow escape when a car in which they were travelling caught fire in Maharashtra's Thane district, civic officials said on Monday. The car was completely charred following the incident which took place at around 10 pm on Mumbra bypass when the family members were on way towards Thane city, local civic body's disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said. The car suddenly caught fire following which its occupants - two women, as many men and three children- immediately got out of the vehicle, he said. Local firemen and disaster management cell team members rushed to the spot after being alerted and put out the blaze in about half-an- hour, but the car was completely charred, the official said. Fire at sofa factory in Mayapuri industrial area, 7 hurt including 2 cops

Two policemen and seven civilians were injured putting out a fire that broke out at a factory in west Delhi's Mayapuri area early Wednesday morning, officials said. Crawfordsville Fire Chief Scott Busenbark said crews were called Saturday morning to a house fire and found one person on the home's front lawn. A fire broke out in the basement of a multi-storey hospital in Gujarat's Ahmedabad city on Sunday, following which around 100 patients were evacuated from the facility as a precautionary measure, officials said. As per preliminary information, the fire broke out at around 4.30 am in the basement of Rajasthan Hospital, located in city's Sahibaug area, an official from Sahibaug police station said. "Fire fighting teams are working to control the blaze. Smoke continues to emerge from the basement of the hospital where the fire broke out," police inspector MD Champavat said. "Nearly 100 patients have been evacuated from the multi-storey building as a precautionary measure," he added. The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
