PM Modi unveils India's 1st auto in-plant railway siding project of MSIL

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated India's first automobile in-plant railway siding project of Maruti Suzuki (MSIL) at its plant at Hansalpur in Gujarat's Mehsana district virtually from a function here. PM Modi, who visited Gujarat on Tuesday, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of Rs 85,000 crore railway projects, including the launch of 10 new Vande Bharat trains, from Sabarmati area of Ahmedabad in Gujarat after visiting the Dedicated Freight Corridor's (DFC) Operation Control Centre here. The MSIL's in-plant railway siding project was also inaugurated during the event. PM lays foundation stones of road projects in Gujarat costing Rs 1,500 cr

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday virtually laid the foundation stones of three highway projects costing Rs 1,575 crore in Gujarat at an event held in Gurugram in Haryana. Among the three projects is the construction of a six-lane elevated corridor of 10.630 km from Narol Junction to Sarkhej Junction and an 8-lane bridge to replace the existing Shastri bridge on Sabarmati river on National Highway-47 in Ahmedabad at a cost of Rs 1,295 crore, a government release said. "National Highway-47 from Narol to Sarkhej passes through Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation limits. The elevated corridor will help solve traffic problems and blackspots created due to cross traffic that causes accidents," the release said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will witness 'Bharat Shakti', a synergised demonstration of indigenous defence capabilities in the form of a tri-services live fire and manoeuvre exercise, in Rajasthan's Pokhran on March 12. Modi will also visit Gujarat on Tuesday to launch multiple development projects, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said in a statement on Sunday. The 'Bharat Shakti' will have on display an array of indigenous weapon systems and platforms as a demonstration of the prowess of the country, premised on the nation's self-reliance initiative, the statement said. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi visited the Swaraj Ashram in Surat on Sunday and paid tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel during the last leg of his 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' in Gujarat. Stone Sapphire India to invest Rs 1,000 cr in homewares plant in Baroda

Toys and stationery manufacturer Stone Sapphire India will invest Rs 1,000 crore to set up a manufacturing facility for homewares like glassware, sippers, dinnerware etc, in Baroda.. Talking with PTI, Stone Sapphire India Pvt. Ltd. (SSPL) Chairman Vick Rana said that homeware products available in India are either for the lower class or very high-end for the elite and leave a huge vacuum for middle-class consumers. "Our work on new plant and capacity expansion has already begun in Baroda which is focused on the homeware segment. We are investing Rs.1000 crore on this expansion," Rana said. Guj launches schemes to provide financial help to students of Class 9 to 12

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Saturday launched two schemes to provide financial assistance to students from Classes 9 to 12, for which the government has allocated Rs 1,650 crore in the state budget. Under its "Namo Lakshmi Yogana", the government will provide Rs 50,000 to girls studying in Classes 9 to 12 over four years, while Rs 25,000 will be given to both girls and boys who have opted for the science stream in Classes 11 and 12 under the "Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana", a release stated. "These two significant schemes have been initiated this year to fulfil Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to girls' education, encouraging girls to pursue secondary and higher secondary education and to promote science education," the state government said in a statement. Gail, ONGC explore possibility of importing ethane at Shell's Guj terminal

State gas utility GAIL (India) Ltd and oil producer ONGC will explore possibility of using Shell's import terminal at Hazira in Gujarat for importing ethane and other hydrocarbons to fuel their petrochemical ambitions. GAIL had in May last year signed a memorandum of understanding with Shell Energy India Pvt Ltd to explore opportunities in energy value chain, including sourcing of ethane. On Thursday, "GAIL, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Shell Energy India (SEI) Pvt Ltd signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore opportunities for import of ethane and other hydrocarbons and development of evacuation infrastructure at Shell Energy Terminal, Hazira," GAIL said in a statement. Nexgen Energia to invest Rs 3,000 cr to set up CBG plant in Gujarat

Sustainable energy solutions company Nexgen Energia on Wednesday said it will invest around Rs 3,000 crore to set up a compressed biogas (CBG) plant in Gujarat. The company presented a proposal for its investments in the state during a meeting with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel. After the commencement of the CBG plant, it will start supplying compressed biogas directly to the CNG pumps, the company said. "Nexgen Energia will invest more than Rs 3,000 crore and will set up a CNG Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant in Gujarat and apart from this, it will also set up EV units and other related setups in the state. A proposal for this has been presented to the Gujarat government, and soon, we will sign an MoU for this. Gujarat Cong working president Ambarish Der quits party, set to join BJP

In a setback to the opposition Congress ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, its Gujarat unit working president Ambarish Der resigned from the party on Monday and said he will join the ruling BJP on Tuesday. Just ahead of his announcement, Gujarat Congress president Shaktisinh Gohil told reporters that during a meeting held on Sunday night, the party's disciplinary committee suspended Der from all party posts and as primary member of the Congress for a period of six years for his "anti-party activities".
