Godrej Industries' chemicals division plans Rs 600 cr investment in Gujarat

Godrej Industries Ltd on Friday said its chemicals division plans to invest Rs 600 crore over the next four years in the expansion of its unit at Valia in Gujarat. In a regulatory filing, the company said Godrej Industries Ltd (Chemicals Division) has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government for the purpose. "As part of the MoU, the company may plan to invest Rs 600 crore over the next four years on the significant expansion in Valia with employment of around 250 (people)," it said. The MoU paves the way for expansion at Valia where Godrej Industries already has a manufacturing facility. The unit located in the Bharuch district of the state produces a wide range of oleochemical products derived from organic material catering to various market segments, including personal care, pharmaceutical and food industries, the company said. With a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 15 per cent from 2002-03 to 2022-23, which was higher than the national average during the period, Gujarat has maintained its position of being one of the fastest-growing states in the country, the state government said. With such strong economic fundamentals, Gujarat has for long been recognised as the 'growth engine of India', it said. "When we started the Vibrant Gujarat Summit (two decades ago when he was Gujarat CM), it was our intention that the state should become the growth engine of the country's progress. RECPDCL inks pact with Guj for smart metering projects worth Rs 2,094 crore

REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC, has inked an initial pact with the Gujarat government for implementing smart metering projects worth Rs 2,094.28 crore. The project is to be implemented in Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (PGVCL) under the first phase of the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS). PGVCL comes under Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL). According to a statement, an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by GUVNL MD Jai Prakash Shivahare and RECPDCL CEO Rajesh Kumar Gupta in the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The MoU was signed ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2024. The Gujarat government is set to facilitate RECPDCL in obtaining necessary permissions and clearances for their upcoming projects in the state. As per the statement, the MoU outlines a time-bound framework to streamline the establishment of RECPDCL's projects in Gujarat.

NHPC pledges to invest Rs 4k cr in 750 MW Kuppa hydro storage project

NHPC has inked an initial pact to invest Rs 4,000 crore in 750 MW Kuppa Pumped Hydro Storage Project at Chhota Udaipur in Gujarat. Taking a step towards clean and green energy, NHPC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gujarat Power Corporation (GPCL) for investment in Kuppa Pumped Hydro Storage Project (750 MW) on January 3, 2024, a company statement said. According to the statement, the MoU was signed at an event organised at the Secretariat in Gandhinagar under the aegis of 'Vibrant Gujarat'. In the presence of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and state Energy Minister Kanubhai Desai, the MoU was signed by Arun Mahesh Babu, Managing Director, GPCL, and V Srivastava, Executive Director, Renewable Energy and Green Hydrogen, NHPC, the statement said. Robust growth in Gujarat's public health infra in last 2 decades: Govt data

Gujarat witnessed a significant improvement in public health infrastructure in the last two decades driven by the state government's efforts to ensure that quality medical services reach every corner, as per official data. In the state budget 2023-24, the government allocated Rs 15,182 crore for the healthcare sector, compared to Rs 12,240 crore provisioned for this sector in the 2022-23 budget. Covid sub-variant JN.1: Insacog says 196 cases detected in country

A total of 196 cases of COVID-19 sub-variant JN.1 have been detected in the country so far, with Odisha joining the list of states that have detected the presence of the variant, according to the INSACOG's data updated on Monday. Ten states and Union territories have so far detected the presence of the JN.1 sub-variant of the virus. These states are Kerala (83), Goa (51), Gujarat (34), Karnataka (eight), Maharashtra (seven), Rajasthan (five), Tamil Nadu (four), Telangana (two) Odisha (one) and Delhi (one), according to the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG). At least 20 passengers from Gujarat who were on the Nicaragua-bound flight which was sent back mid-route from France have been quizzed by police in a bid to unearth a suspected illegal immigration network operating from the state, a senior official has said. The Nicaragua-bound aircraft, an Airbus A340 carrying 276 passengers, was grounded in France for four days over suspected human trafficking. It landed in Mumbai in the early hours of December 26.
