Hindustan Aeronautics spending over Rs 2,000 crore this year on R&D

India's aerospace major Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) is spending over Rs 2,000 crore this year on research and development in line with its overall approach towards indigenisation of critical avionics and related hardware, a senior official of the state-run entity said on Wednesday. The HAL will showcase its rich legacy in the design, development and production of a diverse range of avionics systems at an expo in Delhi on December 7 and 8. "We are spending over Rs 2,000 crore this year on R&D," said Dr D K Sunil, Director of Engineering and R&D at the HAL. Over the last few decades, the HAL has developed a number of military aircraft and helicopters including the Tejas Light Combat jet and Prachand Light Combat Helicopters. "We wanted to showcase what we are doing towards 'Atmanirbharta' (self-reliance) in defence. The HAL has been doing it over a period of time," said Sunil. "We have invested a lot in the research and development and we have a very big R&D set up. The .

HAL picks 139 trainees out of over 30,000 applicants in latest batch

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has picked 139 trainees in its latest batch out of over 30,000 aspirants, according to the Bengaluru-headquartered company. HAL inducted the 46th batch of Management and Design Trainees (MTs and DTs) at a programme here on Wednesday. The batch would go through a 52-week training programme through HAL Management Academy in various disciplines such as aeronautics, production, electrical, electronics, computer science, finance, human resources and legal. "Out of over 30,000 aspirants, 139 trainees have been inducted", an HAL statement said. Seven handbooks on technical and managerial subjects were released by HAL CMD (Additional Charge) C B Ananthakrishnan during the event. State-run HAL to provide maintenance support for GA-ASI's MQ-9B engines

State-run aerospace behemoth Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) will provide maintenance support services for engines of American MQ-9B Remotely Piloted Aircraft System, considered one of the most sophisticated armed drones globally. The HAL will provide the maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) services for the operations of MQ-9B drones in India, officials said on Wednesday. The announcement of the project comes amid India's ongoing talks with the US to procure 30 MQ-9B armed drones at a cost of over USD 3 billion primarily to crank up its surveillance apparatus along the frontier with China as well as in the Indian Ocean region. The HAL and US defence major General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc (GA-ASI), the manufacturer of the MQ9Bs,, announced the collaboration on the MRO (maintenance repair and overhaul) services for the drones on the sidelines of Aero India-2023 at the Yelahanka air base complex. HAL to showcase indigenous products during DefExpo 2022 in Gandhinagar

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited said on Friday it is geared up to display its indigenous products at the 12th edition of DefExpo to be held at Gandhinagar from October 18 to 22. "HAL's participation will focus on technological excellence and indigenisation initiatives, under its business verticals such as fighters, trainers, transport aircraft, helicopters, engines, systems and avionics besides projecting the company's futuristic programs", the Bengaluru-headquartered company said. HAL will have a dedicated 'Indigenisation Exhibition Stall' for active participation and interaction of Indian industry partners, it said in a statement. HAL sets up Rs 208 crore rocket engine manufacturing facility for Isro

The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has set up a Rs 208 crore Integrated Cryogenic Engine Manufacturing Facility (ICMF) here that would cater to the entire rocket engine production under one roof for Indian Space Research Organisation. President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the state-of-the-art ICMF, set up over an area of 4,500 square metres housing over 70 hi-tech equipment and testing facilities for manufacturing cryogenic (CE20) and semi-cryogenic (SE2000) engines of Indian rockets, on Tuesday. In 2013, an MOU was signed with ISRO for establishing the facility for manufacturing cryogenic engine modules at HAL, Aerospace Division, and it was subsequently amended in 2016 for setting up of ICMF with an investment of Rs 208 crore.
