In an effort at providing better facilities to differently abled visitors, Kerala is all set to transform itself into a cent per cent accessible friendly tourism destination in another four years time. The Kerala government has already sanctioned Rs nine crore to make 126 destinations 'Barrier Free' by december this year as part of the first phase of the project, P Bala Kiran, Director, Kerala Tourism, said. The state receives about 1.57 crore tourists, including one million international visitors, every year. "It is estimated that about one per cent of these tourists are differently abled," Bala Kiran told PTI. 'Barrier Free Kerala Tourism' is the project of the Department of Tourism in cooperation with Responsible Tourism (RT) mission, which aims to convert the state into a 100 per cent accessible friendly tourist destination by 2021. IndiGo flight diverted to Muscat due to medical emergency
An IndiGo flight operating on the Delhi-Dubai route was diverted to Muscat on grounds of a medical emergency on Monday.The flight 6E 023 which departed from New Delhi was en route Dubai when it was diverted. The airline also issued a statement stating it informed the Air traffic control (ATC) and also requested an ambulance for the passenger."An IndiGo flight 6E 023 operating Delhi-Dubai route was diverted to Muscat on grounds of a medical emergency this morning. As a precautionary measure, the flight crew informed ATC and requested for an ambulance and a local doctor. The passenger was examined and was declared fit to fly. The aircraft departed normally to Dubai," read the statement.The flight then departed to its destination, Dubai.

Malaysia mosque bans tourists after 'sexy dance' goes viral
A Malaysian mosque has banned tourists after a video of two female visitors in skimpy outfits dancing in front of the Muslim holy site went viral online. The pair, of East Asian appearance and believed to be foreigners, were filmed doing the dance in skimpy shorts and tops exposing their mid-riffs on a wall outside the main mosque in the city of Kota Kinabalu, a popular site for visitors and tour groups. Residents and local Muslim groups were incensed by the risque moves outside the holy site on Borneo island, which is renowned for its huge blue and gold dome and ornate minarets. An outraged onlooker can be heard in the video saying: "Why don't they just fall off the wall?" Mosque chairman Jamal Sakaran at the weekend slammed "the unacceptable behaviour by foreign tourists" and announced a temporary halt to any tourists visiting the mosque in Sabah state, adding the move was to preserve the sanctity of Islam. The major attraction this year will be shooting a personalised video of rafting that can be shared on various social media platforms. With monsoon covering the coastal state, the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) has decided to start white water rafting activity. Dawood aide arrested in Mumbai for threatening hotelier
A man allegedly belonging to fugitive Dawood Ibrahim's gang was today arrested with police stating that he had threatened a hotelier under instructions from his accomplices in Pakistan. Ramdas Rahane (41), was nabbed by a team of the Mumbai police's Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) when he was planning to attack the hotelier after having received money from Pakistan to do so, a senior police official said today. "We have arrested Ramdas Rahane, an important member of the Dawood Ibrahim gang, who was threatening and trying to extort money from a hotelier," said Dilip Sawant, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime). Sawant said that the hotelier, in his complaint, had stated that he was receiving threat calls from Pakistan. "The callers were demanding Rs 50 lakh and had also told the hotelier to pay Rs 5 lakh immediately to Rahane. Rahane also made calls to the hotelier threatening him," Sawant told reporters.
