77 Indian hikers on their way to Everest peak
As spring's climbing season kicks in, 41 teams of Nepali and foreign climbers, including 77 Indian hikers, have embarked on a three-month expedition on Tuesday to reach the worlds' highest peak - Mount Everest."This spring's first ascent on Everest is likely to take place on Tuesday. 5 killed in Gwadar hotel attack; clearance operation ends
Five people including four hotel employees and a navy soldier lost their lives in a terror attack that targeted the Pearl Continental here in Gwadar, the Pakistani army's media wing said on Sunday, as it announced the conclusion of its clearance operation of the hotel.Apart from five killed, six people including two navy soldiers, two army captains and two hotel employees were injured as the gunmen barged in the hotel, reported Dawn.The Pakistani army on Sunday said that the security forces had completed the operation at the hotel and killed three terrorists. The bodies of the terrorists were retained for identification.The banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) had claimed responsibility for the attack.Several gunshots were heard after three armed militants entered the private five-star hotel. The security guard was killed after he tried to stop the gunmen from entering the hotel's premises.This is the sixth terror attack in Balochistan in one month.

Panaji bypoll: GSM hits out at BJP on issue of casinos
The Goa Suraksha Manch Sunday hit out at the ruling BJP for not mentioning anything about off- shore casinos operating on the Mandovi river near here. The GSM, mentored by former Goa RSS chief Subhash Velingkar, has opposed these casinos and has asked that they be shifted from the river to deep in the Arabian Sea. Velingkar, the BJP's Siddharth Kunkolienkar and the Congress' Atanasio Monserratte are the main candidates for the Panaji Assembly bypoll slated for May 19. "The BJP manifesto for Panaji bypoll has no mention of these off-shore casinos whereas former chief minister late Manohar Parrikar had spoken against them during the 2012 Assembly poll campaign," said GSM's campaign chief Mahesh Mhambrey. Goa has six casinos operating on the Mandovi river.

Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has said casinos play a major role in boosting tourism in the coastal state of Goa. He was speaking to reporters in Panaji on Saturday night at the sidelines of the launch of 'Big Daddy' casino, touted as Asia's largest off-shore casino vessel. The vessel is an upgraded version of a casino previously operating at the Mandovi river here. "Casinos play a big role in tourism. People go to Macau, they go to Vegas, but it is beautiful to see something like this in India," Dutt said. The "Munnabhai" actor said he usually does not opt for gaming at casinos. Balochistan hotel attack: Clearing process enters final stage
Pakistani authorities on Saturday confirmed that all guests and staff members have been rescued from Pearl Continental Hotel in Gwadar in the wake of an attack in which a security guard was killed.Gwadar Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Mohammad Waseem said that the "the process of clearing the hotel has entered its final stages," The Dawn reported.Several gunshots were heard after three armed militants entered the private five-star hotel.The security guard was killed after he tried to stop the gunmen from entering the hotel's premises, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack, according to the organisation's spokesperson Junaid Baloch.Balochistan chief minister Jam Kamal Khan Alyani condemned the attack and urged a "well planned and strong action".
