An eventful season, where he has already played 28 weeks, has left Shubhankar Sharma a bit tired but the young Indian golfer says he can't complain since he has gained experience. Shubhankar is now gearing up to tee up on his sixth successive week on a golf course at the USD seven Million Turkish Airlines Open, here from Thursday. IIM Lucknow director passes away

The director of Indian Institute of Managment, Lucknow passed away Wednesday after a prolonged illness. He was 61. Ajit Prasad died at 3.30 pm at SGPGIMS where he was admitted for over two weeks, IIM Lucknow said in a statement. He was 61. A spokesperson of SGPGIMS said, "Director of IIM-Lucknow Prof Ajit Prasad passed away today at 3.30 pm in post-op ICU of SGPGI due to heart failure. He was on ventilator since the time he was admitted".

PM proposes virtual museum near Patel statue for former royals

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday suggested building a "virtual museum" near the Statue of Unity in Gujarat in the memory of the erstwhile royals, who had "sacrificed" their princely states for the unity of India under Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. While unveiling the 182-metre-tall statue of the country's first home minister here in Narmada district of Gujarat, Modi said, "A virtual museum should be constructed near the statue to honour the sacrifice of the former rulers of over 550 princely states that were annexed to India." The giant Statue of Unity, built on an islet -- Sadhu Bet -- near the Sardar Sarovar Dam, is twice the height of the Statue of Liberty in the US and taller than the 153-metre Spring Temple Buddha in China. South Korean First Lady to attend festivities in Ayodhya next week

First Lady of South Korea Kim Jung-sook will visit India from November 4-7 during which she will participate in festivities in the religious city of Ayodhya. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said she will be the chief guest at the 'Deepotsav' event being organised by the Uttar Pradesh government on November 6. The Korean First Lady, to be accompanied by a high-level delegation, will also attend the ground-breaking ceremony of the Queen Suriratna (Heo Hwang-ok) memorial in Ayodhya. "The First Lady's participation in the festivities in Ayodhya will showcase our close civilisational links as well as the ongoing deepening engagement between our two countries," an MEA statement said. According to Korean legends, Princess Suriratna from Ayodhya had travelled to Korea and married King Kim Suro and became Queen Heo Hwang-ok some 2000 years ago. Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das Wednesday paid tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his 143rd birth anniversary and recalled his effort in persuading over 550 princely states to join India. "Even today Sardar Patel is pertinent, an example of countrys unity. Now forces of breaking the nation are more active than earlier----some in the name of caste, some in the name of communalism...There is a necessity to give a fitting reply to such forces," Das told a run-for-unity programme here.
