Raman Singh condoles death of Chhattisgarh Governor
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh expressed his condolence on the passing away of the Governor Balram Das Tandon on Tuesday.He said, "It's a big loss for Chhattisgarh and a personal loss for me. He was a father figure to all of us. People of Chhattisgarh will always remember him".Chhattisgarh Governor Balram Tandon passed away in Raipur on Tuesday after being admitted to a hospital in the state capital. He was 90 years of age.He was appointed as the sixth Governor of Chhattisgarh in 2014. He was instrumental in establishing the foothold of Bhartiya Janta Party in Punjab. He also served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab between 1969-70.

Tamil Nadu Minister for Fisheries, D Jayakumar on Tuesday accused actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth of politicising Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) president M. Karunanidhi's death.Jayakumar called Rajinikanth immature and said, "Rajinikanth's remark shows his political immaturity. He used Kalaignar's death for political purposes, does not know the history of Tamil Nadu politics."Jayakumar's reaction came a day after Rajinikanth criticised Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palanisamy and his cabinet for not attending late DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi's funeral last week."Many leaders, ranging from state Governor Banwarilal Purohit to Congress President Rahul Gandhi, were present during the burial of Karunanidhi at the Marina. Khattar expresses grief over demise of Chhattisgarh Guv Tandon
Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar has expressed grief over the demise of Chhattisgarh Governor Balramji Dass Tandon today. Tandon, who was one of the founder members of the BJP's parent organisation Jan Sangh, died after suffering a heart attack at a government hospital in Raipur today. He was 90. In a condolence message, the chief minister said that Tandon was a senior leader who devoted his whole life to inculcate value-based politics and stood by the poor and needy people. He became the governor of Chhattisgarh in July 2014. Khattar conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed the Almighty to rest the soul in eternal peace. Meanwhile, the deceased's son Sanjay Tandon, who is the Chandigarh BJP president, rushed to Raipur.

3 college girl students riding two-wheeler killed in mishap
Three college girl students travelling on a two-wheeler were killed when their vehicle hit a crane engaged in metro rail work here in Maharashtra this morning, police said. The mishap occurred at around 8.30 am in the Ambhazari area when the girls, all aged 18, were on way to their college, Inspector P R Patil of the Bajajnagar police station said. A crane engaged in metro rail work was moving ahead of their vehicle. Two auto-rickshaws and a few two-wheelers were behind the crane, he said. Patil, quoting eyewitnesses, said the girls tried to overtake other vehicles from left side. In the process, their two-wheeler skidded and crashed into the crane. All three were seriously injured in the mishap. A passerby immediately took the girls in his car to a nearby private hospital, where they succumbed to injuries, the police officer said. The deceased were identified as Vishruti Banwari, Sneha Ambadkar and Ruchika Borikar, all residents of Ambhazari, he said, adding the bodies

Honour killing: Man poisons daughter to death in UP
In a suspected case of honour killing, a 15-year-old girl was poisoned to death allegedly by her father in the Bhopa police station area here, police said today. The girl was found in a serious condition at a crematorium in Shukratal here, Station House Officer (SHO) of the Bhopa police station, V P Singh said, adding she was rushed to a hospital where she died during treatment. The girl, a class 7 student, before dying gave a statement that her father gave poison to her, he said. On the basis of her statement, her father, Sunder Singh, was arrested, the SHO said. The accused confessed to giving poison to his daughter, the officer said. He told police that his family belongs to Ghazaibad district. His wife passed away five-six months back and since then he suspected her character, the police officer said. An investigation is underway in the matter, the officer added.

12 Ecuadorean soccer fans killed in post-game bus crash
Police say at least 12 people were killed and another 30 injured when a bus carrying fans of the Ecuadorean soccer team Barcelona SC overturned on a highway after a game. The accident took place Sunday afternoon when the fans were returning to their home city of Guayaquil following a draw against a team from nearby Cuenca Police are still investigating, but some eyewitnesses told local media that the bus was seen trying to overtake other vehicles shortly before the crash.
