An elderly couple in Australia were the surprise recipients of an illegal drug shipment after signing for a wrongly delivered parcel containing millions of dollars' worth of methamphetamine, police said Thursday. The Melbourne couple immediately called police when they discovered bags containing the white powder in the parcel on Wednesday, a police spokesman said. The package contained what police said were 20 kilograms (44 pounds) of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of AU$ 10 million (US$7 million). Police subsequently searched a house in another part of Melbourne where they found 20 more kilograms of the drug and arrested a 21-year-old man. He was charged Thursday with importing a marketable quantity of a controlled drug and was due to appear in court later in the day, police said. The ceremony, however, will continue on every Saturday at its original timings from 10 am to 10.40 am (November 15 to March 14) and from 8 am to 8.40 am (March 15 to November 14), it said. Five members of a family drowned Wednesday in the Sindh river in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind district, police said. Police suspect that the deceased Waris Khan (40) and his daughters ventured into the river but drowned as they failed to gauge the depth of the water. The incident occurred under Amayan police station limits. The deceased are identified as Khan, his daughters Jasmin (17), Mehron (16) and Kushbu (15), and his nephew Ameer Khan (19), said district superintendent of police Rudolf Alvares. Khan and his family members had come to Aman village to attend a marriage in Umri area. "Khan and others ventured into the Sindh river. However, they slipped into deep water and died," Alvares said. Three men, including an army jawan, drowned while bathing in the Poorvi Nayar river in Uttarakhand's Pauri district on Wednesday, police said. Army jawan Gurudev Singh, Navin Singh and Pradeep Singh had gone for a picnic along with four of their friends when the mishap occurred, Station House Officer, Paithani, Ravindra Singh, said. They were bathing in Poorvi Nayar river when they were swept away by its strong currents, he said. The other friends reported the incident to police which recovered the bodies, Singh said.
