Legendary Brian Lara's tips on situational awareness of the game will greatly help the West Indies batters during the two-Test series against India beginning on July 12, feels skipper Kraigg Brathwaite. West Indies have received a huge boost ahead of the multi-format series against India with Lara joining them as the team's performance mentor. "It's great to have him here. In terms of the conversations we have with him, we always learn and he's big on planning... on how you are going to score your runs. His advice on situations is great and it will only help the batters," Brathwaite said in a statement on Cricket West Indies. Lara had worked with the team earlier this year on the tours of Zimbabwe and South Africa and the captain said he has a positive influence on the players. The two sides will kick-off their campaign in the new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle at the Roseau in Dominica. India are coming off a WTC final defeat to Australia at The Oval recently and would be ..

Tilak wants to remember Pollard's advice ahead of his maiden India tour

It was in the deep hours of Wednesday night Namboori Tilak Varma shared the news of his India selection to his parents, Nagaraju and Gayatri Devi, over a video call. It was a pleasant culmination of the dream they were cherishing since Tilak started his cricketing journey from the humble surroundings of Legala Cricket Academy in Lingampally, Hyderabad. After many hours, Tilak's voice was still a bit sandpapery while he recalled that moment. "My mom and dad were literally crying yesterday. I made a video call to them and they were very emotional. My coach (Salam Bayash) also had the same reaction. He also became very emotional," Tilak, who is playing Duleep Trophy semi-final against North Zone, said after the end of second day's play. On Wednesday, the 20-year-old stylish Hyderabad left-hander was drafted into the India T20I side for the series against West Indies. It may be a coincidence that the man of the mom

For Yashasvi Jaiswal, who got his maiden call-up in the India Test side on Friday when the BCCI announced the squad for the upcoming two-Test series in the West Indies, it was the culmination of a journey he had embarked on almost a decade ago. Having left his home in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, spending early teenage years at a tent at the Azad Maidan here and doing hard yards in Maximum City under his coach Jwala Singh, an India cap wasn't everything for the 21-year-old batting prodigy, but the only thing he aspired for. It was never about how he would get there but when. On Friday afternoon the news came, and there was pure joy and elation in equal measure for the stylish southpaw. The young batter told PTI in an exclusive interview that he was both nervous and excited over the possibility of his call-up to the India Test side, a dream that turned into reality after putting in splendid performances across formats in domestic cricket as well as in the IPL.
