Fight against climate change would unite world as one: President Murmu

President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday said the fight against climate change would unite the world as one family. Welcoming Denmark's Crown Prince Frederik Andr Henrik Christian and Crown Princess Mary, who had called on the president at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here, Murmu said climate change is an area on which India and Denmark have a convergence of views and interests. "India has set itself on a path of climate responsive development. We have launched a new mission called 'LiFE - Lifestyles For Sustainable Environment' for sustainable lifestyle and for respecting nature. "She expressed confidence that the fight against climate change would unite the world as one family," a statement issued by the Rashtrapati Bhavan said. Murmu said India-Denmark relations have grown in both depth and breadth in the last few years. She expressed confidence that the two countries would see an upward trajectory in bilateral trade and investment.

President Murmu to grace Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav in Bikaner on Monday

President Droupadi Murmu will visit Bikaner in Rajasthan on Monday to grace the 14th Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav, the Rashtrapati Bhavan said on Sunday. The 14th edition of the festival will be organised from February 25 to March 5 at Karni Singh Stadium in Bikaner by the Union Ministry of Culture. The nine-day cultural extravaganza will see participation of artistes from across India. This festival is a unique effort to bring recognition to India's various arts, cuisines and handicrafts at one place. The president will visit Bikaner where she will grace and address the 14th Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav on Monday, the Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a brief statement.

President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday said that the participation of women must increase in all state assemblies, including that of Arunachal Pradesh, for inclusive development of the country. Addressing a special session of the assembly in the northeastern state, she asserted that Arunachal Pradesh plays an important role in the social and economic development of the country and that the "sun of development" is shining over the state. "For overall and inclusive development of our country, there should be more participation of women in every field of work. Prez Murmu stresses on need for better border infrastructure in Arunachal

: President Droupadi Murmu Monday stressed on the need to build better infrastructure in the strategically located Arunachal Pradesh given that it shares borders with three countries. Speaking on the occassion of the northeastern state's 37th Statehood Day, Murmu said she was "happy to note" that several ambitious infrastructure projects were being taken up in Arunachal, which is also geographically, the largest state. Both India and China have been building a network of roads, bridges, tunnels, dams and airports to connect the border areas of Arunachal and eastern Tibet respectively. Six 'Agniveers' will be part of the Navy's marching contingent during the 74th Republic Day celebrations on Thursday when the ceremonial parade will take place on Kartavya Path amid patriotic fervour. President Droupadi Murmu on Friday said she was anguished to learn about the death of 16 Army personnel in a road accident in Sikkim. She offered heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. Prez Murmu to launch Haryana Roadways' e-ticketing system on Tuesday

President Droupadi Murmu will launch Haryana Roadways' e-ticketing system in Kurukshetra on November 29, according to an official statement. The new e-ticketing system will not only benefit passengers but will also plug revenue leakage for the state-run transport, it said on Sunday. The e-ticketing system will replace the existing manual printed tickets with an open loop system as envisioned by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, it said. Under the new system, 10 lakh National Common Mobility Cards (NCMC) will be issued for free or at concessional rates. In the initial phase, the project will be implemented in six depots --Chandigarh, Karnal, Faridabad, Sonipat, Bhiwani and Sirsa. It will be extended to the remaining 18 depots by the end of January 2023, the government said. In future, the NCMCs can be used in metros and trains, too, it added. President Droupadi Murmu to arrive in Odisha on Thursday on two-day visit

President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to arrive here on Thursday for a two-day trip to Odisha during which she will go to the Jagannath temple in Puri, visit her old school, besides attending other programmes. The state government on Wednesday declared a half-day holiday for all offices, schools and colleges in the state capital region on this occasion. Educational institutes and government offices located in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation area will be closed after 1 pm, according to a notification issued by the revenue and disaster management department. This will be the first visit of Murmu, hailing from Odisha's Rairangpur area in the tribal-dominated Mayurbhanj district, to the state after becoming the President on July 25.
