Rakesh Gangwal, family trust sell 5.7% stake in IndiGo for Rs 11,385 crore

InterGlobe Aviation promoter Rakesh Gangwal and his family trust on Tuesday sold a 5.7 per cent stake in the airline for about Rs 11,385 crore (USD 1.33 billion) through a block deal, according to sources. Apart from Gangwal, the Chinkerpoo Family Trust, whose trustees are Shobha Gangwal and JP Morgan Trust Company of Delaware, has also participated in the transaction for divesting its stake in IndiGo, the country's largest airline, the sources said. Investment banking firms Goldman Sachs (India) Securities Pvt Ltd, Morgan Stanley India Company and J P Morgan India are the placement agents for the stake sale, they added. Before the latest transaction, Gangwal and the family trust together owned about 13.5 per cent in IndiGo. As per the latest block deal, up to 2.2 crore equity shares were sold at a floor price of Rs 5,175 per share, as per the updated term sheet seen by PTI. The total number of shares has been raised from the initial 13.2 million shares (1.32 crore shares) worth .

IndiGo says Delhi-Srinagar flight encountered sudden hailstorm

IndiGo on Wednesday said its flight from the national capital to Srinagar encountered sudden hailstorm on Wednesday and the plane landed safely at the Srinagar airport. Officials said the flight, carrying more than 220 people, faced turbulence, prompting the pilot to report the "emergency" to air traffic control at Srinagar. "IndiGo flight 6E 2142 operating from Delhi to Srinagar encountered sudden hailstorm en route. The flight and cabin crew followed established protocol and the aircraft landed safely in Srinagar," the airline said in a statement. According to IndiGo, the airport team attended to the customers after arrival of the aircraft, prioritising their wellbeing and comfort. "The aircraft will be released post necessary inspection and maintenance," it added.

IndiGo Q4 results:Profit jumps 62% to ₹3,068 crore on strong growth

InterGlobe Aviation, the parent of the country's largest airline IndiGo, on Wednesday posted a 62 per cent rise in profit after tax of Rs 3,067.5 crore for the quarter ended March 2025. In the year-ago period, the profit after tax stood at Rs 1,894.8 crore, according to a release. Total income rose to Rs 23,097.5 crore in the fourth quarter of the 2024-25 financial year from Rs 18,505.1 crore in the same period a year ago. At a briefing about the results, IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said the airline carried 118 million passengers in 2024-25. The company's board has recommended a dividend of Rs 10 per equity share of the face value of Rs 10. Shares of the company rose marginally to close at Rs 5,448 apiece on the BSE. The airline has a fleet of over 400 planes and operates more than 2,200 daily flights connecting domestic and international destinations.
