ICC charges 3 Indians for corrupt activities during Emirates T10 league

The International Cricket Council (ICC), on behalf of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), has charged eight players and officials, including a couple of Indian co-owners Parag Sanghvi and Krishan Kumar Chaudhary on different counts of corrupt activities during the Emirates T10 League. The duo were co-owners of the team Pune Devils and one of their players in that edition -- former Bangladesh Test batter Nasir Hossain has also been charged for breach of league's anti-corruption code. The third Indian, who indulged in corrupt activities, is a little known batting coach named Sunny Dhillon. "The charges relate to the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 Cricket League and attempts to corrupt matches in that tournament these attempts were disrupted. The ICC was appointed by the ECB as the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (DACO) for the purposes of the ECB's Code for this tournament and as such are issuing these charges on the ECB's behalf," ICC said in a statement. West Indies' Marlon Samuels found guilty by anti-corruption tribunal

Former West Indies cricketer Marlon Samuels has been found guilty of four offences under the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Anti-Corruption Code following a hearing by an independent Anti-Corruption Tribunal. The International Cricket Council (ICC), in its capacity as the Designated Anti-Corruption Official under the ECB Code, had charged Samuels in September 2021 of breaching four counts of anti-corruption code during a T10 league in 2019. The 42-year-old has been found guilty after he exercised his right to a hearing before the Tribunal. "The Tribunal will now consider the submissions of each party before deciding on the appropriate sanction to be imposed. The decision will follow in due course," ICC said in a release. Samuels played 71 Tests, 207 ODIs and 67 T20Is in his international career, scoring 11,134 runs and taking 152 wickets. He retired from international cricket in November 2020. The former top-order batter has been found guilty of breaching articles 2.4.2, 2.4.3, 2.4.

Pakistan cricket team gets government clearance for World Cup participation

The Pakistan government on Sunday gave clearance to the country's senior men's team to travel to India for the 2023 World Cup, ending months of uncertainty over their participation in the showpiece. A press release from the foreign ministry informed that Pakistan has consistently maintained that sports should not be mixed with politics. It has, therefore, decided to send its team to India to compete in the upcoming World Cup. "Pakistan believes that the state of bilateral relations with India should not stand in the way of fulfilling its international sports-related obligations," the release said.
