Rs 1.21 trn spent on urban infra in Telangana, says minister K T Rama Rao

The Telangana government has spent over Rs 1.21 lakh crore between 2014 to 2023 from Municipal Administration and Urban Development department for the infrastructure and capital investment in Hyderabad and other urban areas, Minister K T Rama Rao said on Wednesday. Releasing the annual report of MUDA, he said it is 462.8 per cent more than (or 4.62 times) Rs 26,211.5 crore, which was spent by the then government for the period between 2004 and 2014. Of the total Rs 1,21,294 crore infra spending during 2014-23, a whopping Rs 1,11,360 crore (91.8 per cent) was spent by the state government and only Rs 9,934 crore (8.2 per cent) was the Centre's share, he further said. The Strategic Urban Road Development (SRDP) programme was set up to create conflict-free corridors on the main traffic-bearing thoroughfares and to increase the average speed from 15 to 35 kilometres per hour in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and surrounding areas, the Minister said. K T Rama Rao demands MGNREGA-like job guarantee scheme for urban poor

Telangana minister and BRS working president K T Rama Rao demanded an MGNREGA-like job guarantee scheme for the urban poor in his meeting with Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri here on Saturday. Telangana Minister KTR writes to Amit Shah on CRPF recruitment notification

: Minister K T Rama Rao on Friday wrote to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding that the test for the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) be conducted in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam and other official languages as well, other than English and Hindi. As per the notification, the Computer-based test will be conducted only in English and Hindi, a press release from KTR said. Rama Rao said the test put students who did not study in English medium or are not from Hindi-speaking states at a disadvantage. Aiming to position Hyderabad as the "Health-Tech Mecca" of the world, Telangana Minister for IT and Industries K T Rama Rao on Friday said the government targets to triple the life sciences sector ecosystem in the state to USD 250 billion by 2030 from the existing USD 80 billion. Speaking at the 20th Edition of BioAsia 2023, a three-day life sciences conclave which began here today, KTR said the state is home to over 1,000 life sciences companies globally, including the top 10 pharma firms, in their innovation journey. Telangana IT exports grow over 3-fold to Rs 1.83 trn in 8 years: Rama Rao

The number of employees in the IT sector in Telangana grew from 3.23 lakh in 2014 to 8.7 lakh in 2022 while IT exports rose from Rs 57,000 crore to Rs 1.83 lakh crore during the same period, IT Minister K T Rama Rao said here on Monday. Rama Rao who participated in an interactive session with IT industry leaders, organised by Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association (HYSEA) credited the outcomes achieved over the last eight years to the department concerned and the industry, an official release said.
