Rijiju assures Arunachal of tech advancements, accurate weather forecast

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has assured the people of Arunachal Pradesh of further technological advancements, including establishing a Doppler radar system in West Kameng district of the northeastern state. Kiren Rijiju inspects India-funded key connectivity project in Maldives

Minister of Earth Sciences Kiren Rijiju on Friday inspected the progress of work of an India-funded major connectivity project in the Maldives that is expected to usher economic development and prosperity in the country. Rijiju is here at the invitation of Maldives President-elect Mohamed Muizzu to represent India at the inaugural ceremony of the presidency. Under the Greater Male Connectivity Project (GMCP) project, a 6.74-km-long bridge and causeway link will be built to connect the capital city Male with the adjoining islands of Villingli, Gulhifalhu and Thilafushi. It is funded under a grant of USD 100 million and a Line of Credit of USD 400 million from India. "Glad to witness the progress of works of Greater Male Connectivity Project in Maldives. Maldives President-elect Mohamed Muizzu will take oath of office on Friday at a ceremony in the capital Male, where India would be represented by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju. Union minister Kiren Rijiju appointed BJP election in-charge for Mizoram

The BJP on Friday appointed Union minister Kiren Rijiju as the party's election in-charge for Mizoram where assembly polls will be held on November 7. BJP national secretary Anil Antony and Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton will serve as the party's co-in-charges for the elections in Mizoram, the party said in a statement. Voting for all 40 assembly seats in Mizoram will take place on November 7 and the counting of votes will take place on December 3. In the last assembly polls held in November 2018, the Mizo National Front (MNF) had secured 26 seats, while the Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) had bagged eight seats. The Congress had won five seats and the BJP one. The BJP also appointed Jatinder Pal Malhotra as the party's Chattigarh unit president, according to another statement issued by party national general secretary and headquarters in-charge Arun Singh. All these appointments have been cleared by BJP chief J P Nadda, the party said.

India's mission to send a manned submersible vehicle to a depth of 6,000 metres to explore the sea, as part of the Samudrayaan project, is progressing as scheduled and the vehicle will be ready soon, Union Minister for Earth Sciences Kiren Rijiju said on Thursday. India to have new supercomputer for weather forecasting by year end: Rijiju

India will unveil its new 18 petaflop supercomputer for weather forecasting institutes later this year, Union Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju said on Wednesday. Rijiju made the announcement after a visit to the ministry's National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF) in Noida near here. The NCMRWF houses 'Mihir', a 2.8 petaflop supercomputer, while the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, is home to 'Pratyush', a 4.0 petaflop supercomputer. "The new supercomputer will be bought at a cost of Rs 900 crore," Rijiju told reporters at NCMRWF. According to the arrangement arrived at by the ministry, NCMRWF will be allocated eight petaflop supercomputing power with the remaining 10 petaflops going to IITM.
