Larsen & Toubro wins 'significant' contract in Chhattisgarh

Engineering and construction conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Tuesday said it has won a 'significant' contract in Chhattisgarh. The company did not provide the exact contract value. However, as per its classification, a significant contract ranges between Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 2,500 crore. "The Water and Effluent Treatment business of L&T Construction has secured an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) order involving design, engineering, supply and installation of plant and equipment to lay 135 km of slurry pipeline and water pipeline systems between Bacheli and Nagarnar and associated facilities in the state of Chhattisgarh," the company said in a statement. L&T is already executing a pumping facility as part of another package for the same client in the same area that involves supply of positive displacement pumps and construction of a slurry pump house, it added. L&T bags orders for supply of 90 units of Komatsu Mining Equipment

Infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Monday said it has receivedorders for supply of 90 units of Komatsu Mining Equipment. "The construction and mining equipment business of Larsen a Toubro... hassecured multiple orders for supply of 90 units of Komatsu Mining Equipment from Coal India subsidiaries, leading Infra companies engaged with the coal sector and customers from the cement and iron ore sectors," L&T said in a BSE filing. The company, however, did not disclose the value of the orders received. L&T MD&CEO S N Subrahmanyan said receipt of these orders from customers across various sectors "is a strong indication of the revival taking place in the mining industry, driven by the progressive and supportive policies of the Government of India." The company had recently won an order to supply 46 units of Komatsu Mining Equipment from Tata Steel. Shares of L&T were trading 0.93 per cent higher at Rs 1,159.90 apiece on BSE.

Larsen & Toubro is lowest bidder for road bridge over river Brahmaputra

Engineering and construction giant Larsen & Toubro has emerged as the lowest bidder for a Rs 3,200 crore project to build a road bridge over the Brahmaputra river, according to an NHIDCL official. It will be one of the longest road bridges over a river in the country and on completion will connect two eastern states - Assam and Meghalaya. "Larsen & Toubro has emerged as the lowest bidder for about Rs 3,200 crore four-lane road bridge across river Brahmaputra from Dhubri to Phulbari on NH 127 B," the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) official said. The project is being financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The proposed around 18 km bridge, which is considered as strategic, will connect Assam and Meghalaya, reducing the detouring road distance by about 203 km from Dhubri to Phulabari, which lie on the either side of the Brahmaputra before it flows into Bangladesh.

L&T Q2 net profit declines 45% to Rs 1,410 crore on Covid-19 impact

Engineering and construction giant Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Wednesday posted a 45 per cent decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 1,410.29 crore for the quarter ended September, hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. The company had clocked a net profit of Rs 2,551.67 crore in the year-ago period, it said in a regulatory filing. "Net Profit After Tax (PAT) and share in profit / (loss) of joint ventures / associates from continuing operations before exceptional items for the quarter is at Rs 1,410 crore, registering a sequential improvement of nearly 4 times reflecting pickup in the business momentum. "However, the impact of pandemic in terms of lower revenue, higher credit provisions in the Financial Services business and disruption of the Metro services, led to decline of 45 per cent vis--vis reported PAT of corresponding quarter of the previous year at Rs 2,552 crore," the company said in a statement. L&T bags multiple orders across business verticals in domestic market

Infrastructure company Larsen & Toubro (L&T) on Monday said it has received multiple orders across various business segments in the domestic market. The company did not provide the value of the contracts but said the orders fall under the "significant" category, which ranges between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore according to the classification of contracts. "The construction arm of L&T has secured (significant) orders from prestigious clients for its varied businesses,"L&T said in a regulatory filing. The waterand effluent treatment business of L&T Construction has secured a repeat orderfrom Narmada Water Resources, Water Supply & Kalpsar Department,Government of Gujarat to execute the TapiKarjan Pipeline Link Irrigation Scheme, it said. Larsen & Toubro non-executive chairman A M Naik on Tuesday said he was "apprehensive" about bidding for Rs 1,338-crore ITER's cryostat contract for the world's largest experimental thermo-nuclear fusion reactor in France as it was considered as "too risky" a bet.
