Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot Friday instructed officials of the state government and the HPCL to complete the Pachpadra refinery project within the stipulated time of four years. Calling it the most important project in the state, Gehlot said it should be developed as a model refinery, after reviewing the short-term and long-term activities of the project. Noting that the youth of the state had high hopes from the refinery, Gehlot said skill development centres should be set up in Pachpadra and Jodhpur and an ITI should be established in the refinery area, where youth can get guidance and training related to the manufacturing of petrochemical and related products. An industrial corridor should also be developed for the consumption of petrochemical products around the refinery as it will provide better employment opportunities, he said. A woman was killed and her husband suffered injuries after an attack by their relative in Nizamuddin area of the capital on late Wednesday night.The incident took place on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet has decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 7,500 per month to minor victims of rape and child abuse till the age of 21 years as a livelihood support measure, an official spokesperson said on Wednesday. In its meeting held here under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, the state cabinet decided to restore self confidence and dignity of victims of child abuse through intensive counselling, financial security, skill upgradation, rehabilitation and livelihood support, he said. The Cabinet gave its nod to start a scheme for rehabilitation support to minor victims of rape and child abuse. Under it, intensive counselling for up to six months would be provided to them as well as their family through counsellors.
