Complete Pachpadra refinery project within stipulated time: Gehlot to officials
Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot Friday instructed officials of the state government and the HPCL to complete the Pachpadra refinery project within the stipulated time of four years. Calling it the most important project in the state, Gehlot said it should be developed as a model refinery, after reviewing the short-term and long-term activities of the project. Noting that the youth of the state had high hopes from the refinery, Gehlot said skill development centres should be set up in Pachpadra and Jodhpur and an ITI should be established in the refinery area, where youth can get guidance and training related to the manufacturing of petrochemical and related products. An industrial corridor should also be developed for the consumption of petrochemical products around the refinery as it will provide better employment opportunities, he said. EVA Air attendants strike halts flights for 1,000s in Taiwan
A strike by flight attendants at EVA Air, Taiwan's second-largest airline, has left thousands of passengers scrambling for alternative transport. Local media reported more than 100 flights were being canceled and almost 20,000 passengers affected on the first three days of the strike, which began Thursday afternoon after negotiations broke down. The airline operates about 80 international flights daily and its domestic operations were not affected. Terming employment generation as one of his priorities, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said Thursday that the MSME sector offers huge potential and the government is ready to come out with special policies to promote import-substitute products. The road, transport, highways and MSME minister also urged investors from Singapore to tap huge opportunities that India offers and said 22 green expressways will see investments of about Rs 10 lakh crore. New Delhi: Couple attacked by relative, woman dies
A woman was killed and her husband suffered injuries after an attack by their relative in Nizamuddin area of the capital on late Wednesday night.The incident took place on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. While the woman died on the spot, her husband received injuries, said police.All three worked as contract workers nearby. However, the accused had lost his job a few days back. HP govt to give monthly allowance to minor rape victims
The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet has decided to provide financial assistance of Rs 7,500 per month to minor victims of rape and child abuse till the age of 21 years as a livelihood support measure, an official spokesperson said on Wednesday. In its meeting held here under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, the state cabinet decided to restore self confidence and dignity of victims of child abuse through intensive counselling, financial security, skill upgradation, rehabilitation and livelihood support, he said. The Cabinet gave its nod to start a scheme for rehabilitation support to minor victims of rape and child abuse. Under it, intensive counselling for up to six months would be provided to them as well as their family through counsellors. In another decision, the state Cabinet decided to enhance the honorarium of office bearers of Panchayati Raj Institutions from Rs 500 to 1000 per month. Workforce under flexi-staffing, or those provided through contractors to various employers, grew at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16.3 per cent to 3.3 million in 2018 as compared with 2.1 million in 2015, according to a report by the India Staffing Federation (ISF). The rise in number of flexi-staffing workers indicates formalisation of workforce. They get provident fund, group insurance, health insurance and other social security benefits available to formal sector workers. Besides, the employers have virtually no need to comply as many as 44 labour laws. The contractors, or flexi-staffing firms, providing the workforce take care of all such legal obligation.
