A man allegedly killed his wife and two minor children before attempting suicide in Rajasthan's Dholpur district, the police said today. The incident took place in Kankor village in the Baseri police station area around midnight, they said. "The accused Dashrath slit the throats of his wife and two minor children with a knife and then attempted suicide by slitting his own with the same knife," SP Barmer Dusht Daman Singh said. Those killed were Rinki (30), Shivanya (3) and Shubhanshu (1), Sub-Inspector of the Baseri police station Kastur Verma said, adding that their post-mortem had been conducted. "Primary investigation reveals that the accused was under the influence of alcohol when he finished his family after a heated argument with his wife over some issue," he said. The CBI has conducted raids in nine locations as a part of their probe into the ATM Group's chit fund case in several areas of West Bengal, the investigation agency spokesperson said today. The raids were conducted at the offices and residential premises of the chairman and managing director and other directors of the company in nine different locations on Thursday, he said. During the searches, several documents were seized. A case was registered in June 2017 against the ATM Group of companies' officials under IPC 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 323 (punishment for voluntary causing hurt), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (act done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) against the CMD and other directors of ATM group of companies following orders of the Supreme Court. A special CBI court, hearing the discharge applications of former police officers D G Vanzara and N K Amin in Ishrat Jahan alleged fake encounter case, is likely to pass its order on August 7. Special CBI court Judge J K Pandya said the order, which was listed for today, will be passed on Tuesday. A 35-year-old woman died of suffocation after her husband allegedly stuffed a strong adhesive in her mouth, nose and eyes here, police said today. The incident took place at their residence in Rajput Colony here yesterday, police said. "The victim, Durga Bai, suffocated to death after her husband Halkeram Kushwaha stuffed a strong adhesive, used for sticking broken items, in her mouth, nose and eyes," Kotwali police station inspector R N Sharma said. Before committing the crime, the accused asked his two sons to go outside the house and used the glue to kill his wife, he added. The incident came to light when one of their minor sons returned home in the evening and found his mother lying motionless, the inspector said. A 15-year-old tribal girl was allegedly kidnapped and gangraped in a forest at Erbanpali in Malkangiri district, the police said today. Two youths riding a motorcycle abducted the girl from her house when she was alone last evening. They took her to a nearby forest and raped her. After the accused left the spot, the girl returned home and informed her parents about the incident, the police said. Three high court judges were today appointed to the Supreme Court, taking the total number of judges in the apex court to 25. Notifications announcing the appointments of Uttarakhand High Court Chief Justice KM Joseph, Madras HC Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Orissa HC Chief Justice Vineet Saran to the Supreme Court were issued today. Their warrants of appointment were signed by the President last night. Justice Joseph's elevation to the apex court ended a protracted stand-off between the government and the judiciary. The number of judges in the top court after the fresh appointments has gone up to 25. There would still be six vacancies. Justice Joseph's name was recommended for appointment as a judge of the Supreme Court by the collegium headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra on January 10. Pakistan's apex anti-graft body has approached Interpol seeking issuance of Red Corner Notices against jailed former premier Nawaz Sharif's sons Hasan and Hussain, a media report said today. Sharif's sons were declared as absconders by an accountability court after they failed to appear in either of the three cases launched against them along with their father following a Supreme Court decision on July 28, 2017. The decision to issue Red Corner Notices was taken after National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal had asked the interior ministry to initiate the process of bringing back Hasan and Hussan, who have been living in London to take care of their ailing mother Kulsoom Nawaz, 'The Express Tribune' reported. A bike-borne kawad pilgrim was killed after being run over by a vehicle near Mansurpur on the Delhi-Haridwar highway in the district, police said today. Nitish Sharma (26) was on his way to Haridwar yesterday when he was run over by the vehicle, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead, they said.
A 45-year-old woman, who had gone missing the day before, was found in a jungle at Kutubpur village in the district, police said today. The woman's parents have named three people, including her brother-in-law, in their complaint, they said. The body has been sent for postmortem.
