Two employees of a cash replenishing company were arrested for allegedly misappropriating over Rs 1.7 crore from the amount meant to refill the ATMs across the city, police said today. The accused identified as Manish Kumar and Satpal are both residents of Delhi, they added. According to a complaint lodged on Wednesday by Prem Savariya, Branch Head of SIS Cash Services, which is in the business of replenishing cash in the ATMs, the two accused employees had misappropriated over Rs 1.7 crore, Vijay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (west) said. The firm obtain cash from the banks and keep them in their vault at Rajouri Garden. The money is then entrusted to its various employees who replenish cash into the ATMs of various banks as per the schedule, the officer said. Police have busted a factory allegedly producing fake Dabur oil and arrested one person in connection with the incident in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district. Around 1,200 bottles of spurious oil of Dabur company, a packing machine and 20,000 stickers were recovered from Ajai Nagar-based factory and its godown last night, a police official said. The raid was conducted on the complaint of Jeetu Sharma, the manager of a Dabur factory, the official said, adding that the illegal factory was run by a local named Chatar Singh. "We have been receiving complaint about this bogus factory. However, after collecting relevant information, police was requested to conduct a raid," the manager said.
At least 10 people died in a massive blast that took place on Friday night at a stone quarry in Kurnool district's Hathi Belgal.Five more people, who were labourers working at the site, got injured and were rushed to the Aluru Government Hospital for treatment; however, one among them succumbed to injuries.According to SP, Kurnool, other four are declared out of danger and still undergoing treatment.Reportedly, the fire that broke out in the quarry, spread to the nearby area and burnt three tractors, one lorry and two sheds to ashes.Fire fighters rushed to the spot."A case has been registered U/s 304 part-2 IPC, section 3 & 5 of Explosive substances act. A Dalit youth was allegedly set on fire by two men in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district, police said today. The two accused allegedly assaulted Pardesi first, poured kerosene and set him on fire in Satoha village last night, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Vinay Singh Chauhan. People rushed towards him and doused the fire. Pardesi received nine per cent burns and has been hospitalised. He is out of danger, Chauhan said. Search is on for the two unidentified accused, who are absconding, he added.
A court here may decide next Wednesday whether to hear a former Vigilance Bureau SSP before accepting the closure report filed by the same department in an corruption case in which current chief minister Amarinder Singh is among the accused. A 32-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping and killing a woman in Chhattisgarhs Dhamtari district, police said today. Kavilas Kunjam had consumed liquor in the house of the victim on July 27 and then allegedly raped and smothered her to death, police said. The incident took place in Gathula village and Kunjam was arrested yesterday, a Sihawa police station official told PTI. Police said that Kunjam, before fleeing from the area, had also allegedly stolen Rs 2000 from the 55-year-old victim and damaged her mobile phone in order to erase evidence of the crime. A case had been registered under sections 302 (murder) and 376 (rape) as well 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code, the official added.
A special court for NIA cases here framed charges against two men today under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for allegedly instigating city youths to join terrorist organisation ISIS. In 2016, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Rizwan Ahmed and Mohsin Ibrahim Sayyed, residents of Malvani area here, for alleged links with the ISIS and for trying to indoctrinate several youths and persuade them to join the ISIS. The court today framed charges against the two under IPC section 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy) and various sections of the UAPA, the central agency said in a release. According to the NIA, the two indoctrinated one Ayaz Mohamad in 2015 and persuaded him to get a passport. In October that year, Ayaz went to Kabul from Delhi and allegedly joined the ISIS in Afghanistan. They tried to incite many other youths in Malvani area to leave India and join the ISIS for jihad in the Middle East, the NIA alleged.

A man accused of killing one of former President George HW Bush's doctors killed himself during a confrontation with authorities this morning, the city's police chief said. Joseph James Pappas, 62, died from a single self-inflicted shot to the head, Chief Art Acevedo told reporters. Pappas had body armor on during the confrontation and shot himself after a second police unit arrived, Acevedo said. Police were called to the scene after a city worker reported seeing Pappas in the area. Authorities on Wednesday had announced Pappas as a suspect in the July 20 death of Dr. Mark Hausknecht and had been searching for him. The confrontation occurred about 3 1/2 miles (5 1/2 kilometers) from Pappas' Houston home. Police have arrested a pub owner for allegedly molesting a woman doctor. Dhananjay Shetty, owner of 'Melting Point' pub (earlier called 'J 49') in suburban Juhu, was arrested last night, said a pollice official. The alleged incident took place at the pub. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) today arrested one Kenyan national from near the Sealdah station here following a seizure of cocaine from her possession, a senior officer said. Acting on a tip-off, NCB sleuths conducted a raid at a supermarket near the Sealdah station and nabbed the Kenyan woman along with 19 gm cocaine and Rs 8700, he said adding that the drugs were kept in small candy packets. The market price of the drugs seized was around Rs 1.5 lakh, the officer said. "The woman was waiting for an unknown person to deliver the consignment at a supermarket near Sealdah railway station," the officer said. The Kenyan national had arrived from New Delhi this morning and was supposed to return the national capital catching this evening, he said. "Several documents have been seized from the woman and her passport seems to be a fake one. We are probing into the matter," the officer added.
The Orissa High Court today extended the relief granted to convicted IAS officer Vinod Kumar and four others in a corruption case, and asked them to surrender before a vigilance (special) court on August 10. The vigilance court had last month found the five men, including the IAS officer, guilty and convicted them in the corruption case relating to the Odisha Rural Housing Development Corporation. Before the lower court could decide the quantum of punishment, Kumar had approached the high court which restrained the vigilance sleuths from arresting him on the strength of the NBW issued by the vigilance court. Cuffe Parade police said that Riteshkumar Ramveer Bharadwaj (23) had created four fake websites and would lure people with promises of delivering them cheap phones. "Bharadwaj is a resident of Sultanpuri in Delhi and is a B.Com student who has done a course in graphics designing. He would advertise his sites on social media apps, Instagram and shopping websites," said Rashmi Jadhav, senior inspector of Cuffe Parade police station. She said that one of the victims, a resident of Cuffe Parade, was offered an iPhone 6S by the accused for a sum of 9,999 and Rs 199 as shipping charges. "He filed a complaint after he did not get his phone despite paying Bharadwaj money through Paytm. Bharadwaj was arrested yesterday after police traced his mobile phone tower location to Sultanpuri in Delhi," the official said. An official said that 45 SIM cards had been recovered from his
