The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), on Tuesday, registered a case against Shashi Singh's son Shubham, making it the fourth one in the ongoing Unnao Rape case issue.Shashi Singh, a close aide of the accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA, Kuldeep Singh Sengar, was sent to a four day Police Custody on Monday.It was alleged that Shashi who has been remanded to Police Custody till April 19 took the victim to Sengar on the day crime was committed.She was detained by the police authorities yesterday.Earlier on April 13, the CBI arrested Sengar on the charges of raping a minor last year. A 60-year-old man, who was reportedly upset over police inaction in registering a dowry harassment case, committed suicide at Purbaliyan village here today. According to the victim's family, Akhtar took the extreme step as the police failed to register an FIR against the harassment of his daughter by her in-laws for dowry. Circle Officer Rajiv Kumar Singh said five persons, including the son-in-law of the deceased, have been booked for dowry. Singh said Akhtar's daughter married Mir Hasan in 2012. Hasan and his family used to harass the deceased's daughter over dowry and the woman was living with her parents since April 1. An inquiry has also been ordered into the allegations of police inaction in registering an FIR in the case, the officer added.
The Delhi Police on Tuesday filed a chargesheet against four people for allegedly misbehaving and stalking Union Minister Smriti Irani.The incident took place last year when Irani was returning to her residence in Chanakyapuri from Indira Gandhi International Airport.The four boys, students of Delhi University, were arrested last year after an FIR was registered against them for following Irani's car.The FIR was filed under Section 354 D (stalking) and Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).However, they were later released on bail.
The Orissa High Court has granted conditional bail to a company director arrested by the CBI in a chit fund case. Nirupama Samal was arrested along with her husband and managing director of the company, Soubhagya Samal from Gujarat in June 2016. The Midas Touch company had allegedly duped hundreds of investors from Odisha. Allowing the bail application, Justice S K Mishra yesterday directed Samal to produce a bank surety of Rs two crore and furnish bail bonds of Rs two lakh each with two sureties. She was also asked to deposit her passport with the investigating officer and cooperate with the investigating agency, as and when required. Her husband is still in CBI custody. The couple had apparently gone underground, after Odisha police had booked them in 2013 under several sections of the IPC and Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes (Banning) Act. The case was handed over to the CBI in 2014 following orders from the Supreme Court.

A 23-year-old woman and her lover have been arrested for allegedly shooting dead her father for opposing their relationship, the police said today. The incident took place on April 7 when the victim returned to his house in Shamli district from Delhi. He was shot dead by three persons, Circle Officer Ashok Kumar said. We have arrested the deceased's daughter, Kavya, her lover Samir Ahmad and one Shadab in the case, he said. The victim, Rakesh Rohela, used to work in Delhi. He was opposed to his daughter's relationship with Ahmad, the police officer said.
A doctor and his agent have been arrested for allegedly conducting sex-determination tests in the district, the police said today. The accused--Shah Alam and his agent Subhash Chand--were arrested following a raid at their medical facility at Charthawal police station area yesterday, they said. The duo was booked under the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, Nodal Officer S K Aggarwal said. The police also seized machines and Rs 30,000 in cash from the unit run by the accused.
A 48-year-old container truck driver was allegedly killed by four men in a brutal road rage attack near here, police said today. All the accused were arrested for the assault which took place at village Sapne in Palghar district late last evening, they said. The deceased was identified as Harendrasingh Madansingh (48), a resident of Nagpur, the police said. The accused, local villagers, were travelling on two motorbikes, which were overtaken by the truck driven by Madansingh on the Wada-Manor road, they said. This enraged the motorcycle-borne men, who overtook the truck and forced it to stop, the police added. They got into a heated argument with the truck driver. Things took an ugly turn when the quartet repeatedly kicked Madansingh and hit him with bricks, leading to his death, they said. Police on Monday arrested a man for impersonating as an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) doctor.The man has been identified as Adnan Khurram. The police said that the accused is originally a resident of Village Baradi Baireya, East Champaran, Bihar, and was presently residing at Batla House, Jamia Nagar.According to police, Khurram made a booklet having his name written on it which can be only possessed by the junior resident doctors of the AIIMS.He impersonated as an AIIMS doctor to facilitate treatment of his family members, police said.A case under section 419 (impersonation) and section 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against him.

A shooting at a nightclub in Little Rock in the US state of Arkansas has injured two persons, police said.
A realtor was shot dead today in Baraula area of Noida, police said. Unidentified assailants fired seven bullets at the realtor, identified as Moti Goyal. Three bullets hit him, killing him on the spot around 4 pm. He was supervising the construction of a boundary wall on a disputed land at Baraula when the assailants came and fired at him, police said. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Pal Sharma said that three teams had been formed to identify and arrest the accused.
A 16-year-old girl has alleged that her parents tried to coax her into changing her statement in court after taking money from two men accused of raping her in outer Delhi's Aman Vihar area, police said today. The victim approached police on April 10 with help from her neighbours, following which a case was registered. Her mother was arrested but her father is on the run. She alleged that her parents forced her to change statement in court after taking Rs five lakh from the accused, police said. She claimed that when she refused to listen to her parents, they beat her. The girl had gone missing in August last year after which her parents had filed a police complaint. She returned after a week and told police that she was held captive by two men who raped her. The two men were arrested.
A 19-year-old man was arrested for allegedly posing as a doctor at the AIIMS for the last five months, police said today. The accused, Adnan Khurram, used to participate in events for doctors and he easily mingled with them, they said. He was arrested on Saturday. Khurram was caught during a marathon when some doctors became suspicious and questioned him. He could not answer their queries. Subsequently, the police were informed and he was arrested. Police said it is suspected that he posed as a doctor to help relative get access to facilities at AIIMS.
The Delhi University unit of the All India Students' Association (AISA) today took out a candlelight march from Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station, demanding justice for Kathua and Unnao rape victims. An eight-year-old girl was raped and murdered in Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir. In Unnao in Lucknow, A 17-year-old girl alleged that she was raped by a BJP MLA. "It's really shameful that a rape of a minor happens and the whole BJP machinery defends the accused and communalise the whole incident by organising rallies under the banner of Hindu Ekta Manch," AISA's DU unit president Kawalpreet Kaur said. The march ended at Vijay Nagar. The protesters demanded immediate arrest of all accused and sacking of BJP leaders who had supported the accused from the party. "We also demand the Kathua case to be shifted to Srinagar or Delhi," Kaur said.

The accused in the alleged rape of a four-year-old girl in Nilagiri in Odisha's Balasore district was arrested today, shortly after the issue rocked the state Assembly during the day. He was held from Bant Chhak area of Bhadrak, Balasore SP, B Jugal Kishore said. "Three police teams were formed to nab the accused, who was arrested within a very short period," he said. The minor girl's statement has also been recorded and her medical examination conducted, the officer said. Police swung into action after the girl's father lodged a complaint on April 14, alleging that his daughter was sexually assaulted by his neighbour on April 13. The girl was playing when the neighbour offered her chocolates and called her to his house where she was sexually assaulted, police said. A French national, who is also a trustee of an international school in suburban Andheri, today surrendered before a Mumbai court in connection with a case registered against him for sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl. Patrick Brilliant surrendered before Additional Sessions Judge A D Deo at the Dindoshi court. The court sent him to a 14-day judicial custody after charges were framed against him. The Supreme Court, on Friday, dismissed his special leave petition and asked him to surrender within three days. The 57-year-old French national was arrested in November, nearly five months after the alleged incident happened on the school premises. The same month, a trial court granted him bail, which was cancelled by the Bombay High Court. He later moved the apex court. He had been booked under IPC section 376 (rape) and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
