Adani group promises investments of Rs 75K cr; will generate 15,000 jobs
Adani group will invest about Rs 75,000 crore in Madhya Pradesh in power plants, building Mahakaal Expressway, and setting up cement grinding units in coming years, a top group executive said on Friday. The apples-to-airport group has already invested almost Rs 18,000 crore in the state and will continue investing in diverse sectors, said Pranav Adani, Managing Director (Agro, Oil and Gas) and Director of Adani Enterprises at the Regional Industry Conclave here. "Currently, our presence in Madhya Pradesh spans a wide range of sectors - from roads, cement, and natural resources to thermal power, renewable energy and power transmission," he said. "Our faith in your (chief minister Mohan Yadav's) visionary leadership will see us investing close to Rs 75,000 crore in Madhya Pradesh," he added. At least 14 people died and 20 were injured after a pickup vehicle overturned in Dindori, Madhya Pradesh on Thursday.
Fourteen people were killed and 20 others injured when a pick-up vehicle overturned in Madhya Pradesh's Dindori district in the wee hours of Thursday, a police official said. The accident took place near Badjhar Ghat at around 1.30 am when the vehicle's driver lost control over the wheels. As a result, the vehicle overturned, killing 14 people and injuring 20 others, the official said. The victims had gone to Amhai Devri village to take part in a programme in the district's Shahpura block and were returning when the accident took place. Soon after getting information about the incident, Dindori collector and superintendent of police rushed to help the victims. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed grief over the incident and announced an assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of the deceased.
The Madhya Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday approved irrigation projects worth Rs 10,373 crore which would benefit the districts of Mandsaur, Rajgarh, Sidhi, Seoni and Balaghat, an official said. The projects which received approval included Takhaji Micro Lift Irrigation Project (Rs 60.3 crore) in Mandsaur district, Mohanpura Major Irrigation Project (Rs 4,666.66 crore) in Rajgarh, Sitapur Hanuman Micro Irrigation Project (Rs 4,167.93 crore) in Sidhi, and Sanjay Sarovar canal extension (Rs 332.54 crore) work in Seoni and Balaghat districts. The 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will enter Madhya Pradesh on March 2 and the mass outreach programme, being held ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, will continue in the state till March 6, a party leader said on Tuesday. Gandhi will hold a roadshow on March 2 after the yatra enters MP at Piprai in Morena district, state Congress vice president Rajiv Singh said. Congress leader Ashok Gehlot on Sunday accused the BJP government in Rajasthan of creating confusion over the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project and cheating the people of the state while protecting the interests of Madhya Pradesh. A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Centre, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh -- which also has a BJP government -- last month for preparing a Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the ERCP. The law and order situation in Madhya Pradesh has deteriorated since the BJP government under Chief Minister Mohan Yadav took over in December, the Congress' state unit chief Jitu Patwari said on Saturday. Crimes have steadily increased in the 73 days that the BJP has been in power, he said. "A BJP sarpanch and his wife were murdered in Ujjain, which is the home district of CM Yadav.
