North Korea fires more than 10 missiles after threat: South Korea

South Korea says North Korea has fired a total of more than 10 missiles off its eastern and western coasts. South Korea's military said the missiles of various kinds flew toward the Korean Peninsula's eastern and western coasts, but gave no further details. Earlier South Korea's military said it detected the three North Korean short-range ballistic missiles fired off the peninsula's eastern coast. One of the missiles landed near the rivals' sea border, prompting South Korea to issue an air raid alert on one of its islands. The launches came hours after North Korea issued a veiled threat to use nuclear weapons to get the US and South Korea to pay the most horrible price in history an escalation of its fiery rhetoric targeting the ongoing large-scale military drills between its rivals. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement North Korea fired the missiles from its eastern coastal area of Wonsan on Wednesday morning. Russian missiles rock multiple Ukrainian cities, including capital Kyiv

Two explosions rocked Kyiv early on Monday following months of relative calm in the Ukrainian capital. The explosions were heard by AP journalists and appeared to be the result of missile strikes. Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitchko reported explosions in the city's Shevchenko district, a large area in the centre of Kyiv that includes the historic old town as well as several government offices. There were no immediate reports of casualties. Recent fighting has focused on the regions just north of Crimea, including Zaporizhzhia, where six missiles were launched overnight Saturday from Russian-occupied areas of the Zaporizhzhia region. Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday called the attack that damaged the huge bridge connecting Russia to its annexed territory of Crimea a terrorist act masterminded by Ukrainian special services.
