Realty firm Godrej Properties has acquired 75 acre land in Nagpur to develop a housing project with an estimated revenue of Rs 755 crore. The company will mainly sell housing plots in this upcoming project. In a regulatory filing on Friday, the company informed that it has surpassed Rs 20,000 crore annual target of new business development for this fiscal year after the latest purchase of 75 acres in Nagpur, Maharashtra. In the real estate sector, the new business development means acquisition of land parcels, through outright purchases or tie-ups with land owners, to build projects in future. Listed real estate developers generally disclose the estimated saleable area and revenue potential of land parcels they acquire. Siemens on Friday said it has secured two orders worth Rs 773 crore for providing advanced signalling and telecommunication technologies for Nagpur Metro Rail from Mahrashtra Metro Rail Corporation. The total time frame for project execution is about 42 months, a company statement said. According to the statement, Siemens Ltd has received two separate orders from Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MAHA-METRO) aggregating to approximately Rs 773 crore. The death toll in an explosion at an aluminum products factory in Nagpur district rose to five on Saturday after two workers succumbed to their burn injuries, police said. The Maharashtra government announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the kin of the deceased while the company has agreed to pay them Rs 55 lakh each, a minister said. Another five workers are undergoing treatment at hospital, a police official said. The blast took place around 7 pm on Friday at MMP Aluminum Industries in Umred MIDC (industrial area). "Two critically injured workers admitted to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Nagpur died early in the morning, while three workers were found dead inside the factory after the fire was extinguished," said inspector Dhanaji Jhalak of Umred police station. Amid heavy police security, civic authorities on Monday morning demolished a two-storey house of Nagpur violence key accused Fahim Khan over unauthorised construction, officials said. The cost of properties damaged during Nagpur violence will be recovered from rioters and the failure to pay up would lead to the seizure and selling of their properties, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Saturday. A local court here has remanded 17 persons arrested in connection with the Nagpur violence in police custody till March 22. The accused were produced on Thursday night before magistrate Maimuna Sultana during which the police sought their custody for seven days.
