Vaishnaw inaugurates Optiemus' ₹870 cr tempered glass factory in Noida

Union Electronics and IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Saturday inaugurated Optiemus Infracom's tempered glass screen protectors factory here with an outlay of Rs 870 crore. Earlier this month, the company launched RhinoTech -- Made-in-India tempered glass screen protectors, which uses glass engineered by US-based Corning. Optiemus Infracom has invested Rs 70 crore in the first phase of the factory with installed capacity of 25 million units per annum, generating direct employment for over 600 people. "Optiemus is the new gem in the fast growing electronics manufacturing ecosystem in the country. By the end of this year, production of covered glass from Corning will also commence," Vaishnaw said. The minister said that Optiemus should consider increasing its research team headcount of 40 to 400. Tirupur, Noida, Surat exporters halt production amid high US tariffs: FIEO

Apex exporters body FIEO on Tuesday expressed serious concerns over high US tariffs on Indian goods and said that textiles and apparel manufacturers in Tirupur, Noida, and Surat have halted production amid worsening cost competitiveness due to these steep duties. The US duties on Indian goods will increase to 50 per cent from August 27. The move will severely disrupt the flow of Indian goods to its largest export market, Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) President S C Ralhan said. He described the development as a setback and stated that it can severely impact India's exports to the US, with about 55 per cent of India's US-bound shipments (worth USD 47-48 billion) now exposed to pricing disadvantages of 30-35 per cent, rendering them uncompetitive in comparison to its competitors from China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines and other Southeast and South Asian countries. Noida woman set on fire by in-laws over ₹36 lakh dowry, husband arrested

A woman was allegedly assaulted, dragged by her hair and set ablaze by her in-laws in front of her sister and son in Greater Noida. Samsung laptop production in Noida to cater only to Indian market

Korean electronics major Samsung's laptop production at a Noida plant is targeted at meeting the requirements of the Indian market for now, sources aware of the development said. Expanding its manufacturing portfolio in India, the electronics major recently started producing laptops at a Noida factory. Samsung has been manufacturing feature phones, smartphones, wearables, and tablets in India till now. Adani group firm to develop Paytm's IT complex on 10-acre plot in Noida

Adani group firm Manorview Developers will develop IT and ITes complex of fintech firm One97 Communications, which owns Paytm brand, in Noida, the company said in a regulatory filing. Paytm was allocated a 10-acre plot in Sector 159 of Noida for the development of the complex in 2018 by the Noida Authority. "We wish to inform you that the company has now taken a fresh step by proceeding to develop the project independently. Accordingly, the board has approved the proposal to appoint M/s Manorview Developers Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Infrastructure and Developers Private Limited, as the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) Contractor, subject to execution of definitive agreements in this regard," the filing said. Amber to invest ₹6K cr in Noida plant for electronics, appliances

Amber Enterprises has planned an investment of Rs 6,000 crore to set up a large-scale electronics manufacturing facility near the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar, according to a state minister. Realty firm County Group will invest Rs 1,800 crore to develop a housing project in Ghaziabad as part of its expansion plan. The company has launched new project 'Jade County', which is spread over 13.33 acres, comprising around 1,000 units. In a statement on Wednesday, County Group said that it has bought this land parcel in Wave Group's large township 'Wave City' for Rs 400 crore. The total saleable area in this project will be 30 lakh square feet. The "total investment outlay will be Rs 1,800 crore", it added. Supreme Court upholds decision to keep DND flyway toll free for all

The Supreme Court on Friday refused to review its decision upholding that Delhi-Noida-Direct (DND) flyway would remain toll free in a respite to lakhs of daily commuters. A bench of Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh dismissed the plea seeking review of the December 20, 2024 verdict on a plea of Noida Toll Bridge Company Ltd (NTBCL), a private firm running the Delhi-Noida-Direct (DND) flyway. The firm referred to the CAG report relied upon by the apex court and said it had some positive remarks on the company, which the order did not reflect. The bench told the company's counsel that it had "minted a lot of money". The top court, however, while referring to another plea of senior NTBCL official Pradeep Puri for deletion of personal remarks against him reportedly made in the verdict on the basis of CAG's findings, said it would reproduce the report. Puri's counsel said CAG did not make any personal comments against him and the paragraph in the verdict, as a result, could be .

Man breaks into Seema Haider's home, claims she used 'black magic': Police

Police have arrested a man for allegedly breaking into Seema Haider's house here on Saturday, officials said. He claimed that she had done "black magic" on him. Police identified the accused as Tejas, a resident of Surender Nagar in Gujarat. They said that Tejas seemed "mentally disturbed" and tried to enter Seema's residence around 7 pm. "He hails from Gujarat and took a general coach ticket of a train from Gujarat to New Delhi. From New Delhi Railway station he reached the village by bus. He has screenshots of Seema on his mobile phone," Sujeet Updhyay, Incharge at Rabupura Kotwali told PTI. Tejas was arrested, he said.
