J-K: 2 terrorists killed in Baramulla encounter
Two terrorists have been killed in an encounter with security forces at Baramulla's Keeri in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.The operation, which had begun on Thursday morning, has concluded.The encounter comes a day after the security forces had gunned down two terrorists in Nowgam area of Anantnag district.On October 21, three terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Larro area of Kulgam district of South Kashmir.

The Election Commission of India has decided to deploy pick-and-drop vans for differently abled voters to help them exercise their franchise without hassle during the December 7 Rajasthan assembly polls. Talking of the voter-friendly measure, District Election Officer Ravi Kumar said the differently abled voters will not only be ferried to the polling booths and back hame, but they would also be ushered inside the polling booth in wheelchairs by volunteers. To implement this measure, the district administration is appointing transport nodal officers in every district, while the booth level officers (BLO) have been asked to identify differently abled voters, enlisted to cast votes at their booths. The BLOs will provide lists of differently abled voters to the transport nodal officers, who can be contacted directly by voters to avail the pick-and-drop facilities. India, China to hold joint military exercises this year
China and India would hold joint military drills later this year and officials from the two sides will soon meet in Chinese city Chengdu to finalise the plans to resume the exercises, the Defence Ministry said here Thursday. The 7th India and China joint military exercises will be held in China this year, Defence Ministry spokesman Col Wu Qian told a media briefing. "The two sides agreed to hold the planning conference in Chengdu to further discuss on details of the joint exercises," he said. The exercises - 'Hand-in-Hand' - focussing on counter-terrorism operations were not held last year as both sides were locked in a 73-day standoff in Doklam in the Sikkim sector of the border. 16 collectors in 7 states can register Hindu, Sikhs, Buddhists from Pak, Afghan, B'desh as Indians
The government has authorised 16 collectors in seven states in the country to register as Indian citizens the members of minority community from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. The Home Ministry in a notification said any person belonging to minority community -- Hindu, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians -- from the three countries can avail the facility. Those who were given the powers are collectors of Raipur (Chhattisgarh); Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar and Kutch (Gujarat); Bhopal and Indore (Madhya Pradesh); Nagpur, Mumbai, Pune and Thane (Maharashtra); Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Jaipur (Rajasthan); Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh); and West Delhi and South Delhi. The powers for registration were given to the collectors under the Citizenship Act, 1955 (57 of 1955), the notification said.
