Taiwan is persuading India to improve bilateral relations in parallel to New Delhi's ties with Beijing, a senior Taiwanese official said Wednesday. "We have no objections for India to make friends with any country in the world but not at the cost of Taiwan's relations with India. This is something (on which) we are very firm and urging the Indian government," Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India (TECC) Representative Ambassador Chung Kwang Tien said. Taipei is hoping and urging the Indian government to develop relations between India and Taiwan to be parallel to ties with China, he said in an interview to PTI. According to him, several agreements signed between India and Taiwan in the recent past were "strong indicators" signifying their bilateral relations will not be affected by the influence of China. The TECC is Taiwan government's representative office in India. It is responsible for promoting bilateral relations in the areas of the economy, trade, investment, the media, .

Modi lists out abuses hurled at him, says Cong did not even spare his mother

"I stopped their corruption and challenged their dynasty because of which they wear masks of love and abuse me," he said in a rally at Kurukshetra. The prime minister claimed that the Congress also compared him to Hitler, Dawood Ibrahim, Mussolini, etc. His remarks came after Congress president Rahul Gandhi said Monday that despite Modi insulting his father Rajiv Gandhi, he only had love for the prime minister. "A leader of Congress called me 'gandi naali ka keeda' (an insect), one leader called me a mad dog, another one called me Bhasmasura. One more Congress leader, who was external affairs minister, called me a monkey while another minister compared me with Dawood Ibrahim," Modi alleged. "They even abused my mother and even asked who my father is and remember all this was said after I became Prime Minister," Modi said.

PM misleading people with hollow promises, is 'king of advertisement, villain of development': Cong

The Congress on Wednesday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was misleading the electorate with "hollow claims" of success of various schemes and dubbed him as a "king of advertisement and villain of development". Chowkidar chor hai slogan not coined by me or Congress: Rahul

Congress president Rahul Gandhi Wednesday said neither he nor his party coined the 'chowkidar chor hai' slogan, and attributed the jibe to the youth and farmers. Addressing a poll rally here, Gandhi attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Rafale deal, claiming the latter ensured that a "thief", industrialist Anil Ambani, got it. "Mediapersons asked me today about the genesis of the chowkidar chor hai slogan. I told them that while addressing a rally in Chhattisgarh, I said the chowkidar promised two crore jobs to the youth and assured Rs 15 lakh will be deposited in bank account of each Indian. Around 10-15 young men in the rally said 'chor hai'. "I did not hear it the first time. So I asked (the young men) what did you say? They said 'chor hai'. This slogan was not coined by the Congress, or by Rahul Gandhi but it is a slogan of the youth, farmers and labourers of India." Gandhi said he would prefer to die rather than make false promises to the people. The ...

US official: Intel indicates Iran moved missiles by boat

The decision to send an aircraft carrier and a group of Air Force bombers to the Middle East was based in part on intelligence indications that Iran had moved short-range ballistic missiles by boat in waters off its shores, an American official said. The movement, first reported by CNN, was among a range of recent indications that Iran might be considering or preparing to attack US forces in the region, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity in order to discuss sensitive intelligence. The official said on Tuesday that it was not clear whether the boats with missiles represented a new military capability that could be used against US forces or were only being moved to shore locations. When the White House announced Sunday that the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group and a bomber task force were being deployed to the Middle East, John Bolton, the national security adviser to President Donald Trump, cited "troubling and escalatory indications and warnings" but did ...
